The Brave Girls 365-Day Devotional is geared toward girls ages 7 to 12 years old. This devotional comes from the Brave Girls line by Tommy Nelson that inspires young girls to remember that through Christ we are strong. I absolutely adore the fact that the series exist to help girls grow in knowledge from scripture and build confidence that's applicable to our current generation. This devotional can be used at any time. The month as well as number date is printed but not the day of the week nor the year. I prefer devotionals like this because once finished, it can be passed along to a sibling, friend, or a complete stranger. The devotionals are short and would take maybe 5 minutes or less to read. All feature a title, a full scripture verse taken from the NKJV, and a prayer pointer. A few of the devotions have a place where the user can jot down their thoughts on how they'd handle a certain situation and so forth. There are some quizzes too. The devotionals all spring from one of the characters in the series. The girls are “Faith” “Gracie” “Hope” “Glory” “Honor” which are pre-teens. I think having relateable characters really helps young girls navigate the current culture whether it be at school, home, with friends, etc. I feel the devotions are very applicable. I was flipping through and I saw some about the lies we believe. How to be kind to neighbors. Speaking up in trying situations. The importance of prayer. Setting our thoughts on the things above and not of this world. Obeying your parents. I'm glad to have this devotional for my eight-year-old daughter. She's growing up herself and learning more about her faith and how to apply it to all of lives situations. I would recommend this to all girls around her age. I think this book would be a great devotional to start in January but no time is as good as now either. It would make an amazing gift! See for my full review. Are you ready to be a Brave Girl? The hardback book of 365 devotionals is written for ordinary girls who desire to be closer to God. Five fictional girls, Hope, Glory, Faith, Honor and Gracie, take turns presenting gospel truths throughout this fun, pink volume. Each day of the year starts with a title, a Bible verse, a short modern bit about how to apply the verse, and end with a "prayer pointer", or prompt. Written by Jennifer Gerelds and Tama Fortner, and illustrated by Aleksey and Olga Ivanov, Brave Girls 365 Devotional would be appropriate for girls ages 8-13, I think. Its fun and modern, yet reminds me of the daily devotional books and pamphlets I read growing up and into young adulthood. The slick, pretty pages are high quality and the cover is sturdy, and a pink ribbon page marker is attached. The quizzes and writing prompts within make it more interactive.
