Beautifully written with thought and humor. Cleverly personifies most of the women I've known and they're portrayed as strong, and clever and with humor. I came off reading this, wishing I still taught high school English. This is a must read for teenage girls and for my girlfriends in their seventies. I can't wipe the grin off my face tonight.
Thirty short stories about women and for women. They cover a wide range of topics from aging to stress to marriage and careers. All the women in the stories have an issue to resolve. I’m not usually a fan of short stories, but I think this collection is very good. Cecelia Ahern is a talented writer and this book shows just how sharp and skillful a wordsmith she is. Of course I liked some stories better than others. Like the one about a woman being fed by a duck and learning to speak up for herself, or the woman who tried on her husband’s shoes and discovered what life is like for him. All the stories are very clever and all of them have a point to them. If you like women’s fiction, then don’t miss this one!
