Santa Bruce (B&N Exclusive Edition) based on 0 ratings. 2 reviews.
I have bought 3 Bruce books for my grandsons (ages 2 and 5 years old). We really enjoy reading them together. Poor Bruce has been the victim of mistaken identity which ends up in sweet and hilarious results. Santa Bruce is a good addition to the series. I highly recommend this book and the whole series. The books are fun for both adults and children. Also these books would be interesting to both boys and girls. The best recommendation I can provide is that the boys ask for the Bruce books when they have a choice of many, many books.
Higgins has captured the magic he created in the original Mother Bruce story. This Christmas story finds all the heart in the big lovable grump Bruce. How could the forests’ animals not mistake the big burly bear in his knit cap and long-johns for a jolly old elf? Bruce tries to convince the “kids” that he is not Santa and let them know he does not like Holidays, or cheer, or fun in anyway – but it doesn’t work. Soon Bruce is engulfed with woodland youth wanting to tell him what they want for Christmas and parents grateful that Bruce is portraying Santa to spread holiday cheer. Bruce really did not intend on this, he wants to eat and sleep. I really love Higgins’ illustrations. He captures Bruce’s curmudgeonly attitude and his “kids” (the geese and mice) innocence. It is hysterical how Bruce’s predicament escalates and snowballs out of control! The story is sweet, heartwarming, and everything you want in a Christmas story.
