16th Seduction (Women's Murder Club Series #16) by James Patterson, Maxine Paetro

Detective Lindsay Boxer faces a heart-stopping threat in the newest Women's Murder Club thriller.

Fifteen months ago, Detective Lindsay Boxer's life was perfect—she had a beautiful child and a doting husband, Joe, who helped her catch a criminal who'd brazenly detonated a bomb in downtown San Francisco, killing twenty-five people. But Joe wasn't everything that Lindsay thought he was, and she's still reeling from his betrayal as a wave of mysterious, and possibly unnatural, heart attacks claims seemingly unrelated victims across San Francisco. As if that weren't enough, the bomber she and Joe captured is about to go on trial, and his defense raises damning questions about Lindsay and Joe's investigation. Not knowing whom to trust, and struggling to accept the truth about the man she thought she knew, Lindsay must connect the dots of a deadly conspiracy before a brilliant criminal puts her on trial.

The Women’s Murder Club series is the only James Patterson work I still bother reading. I enjoy the four characters who make up this group; the short lived TV series some years ago enhanced this enjoyment. Despite its flaws, I did enjoy 16th Seduction. I thought there was a big whole in the plot near the end. I kept asking myself,”didn’t the authorities do a thorough search of the house and the suspect’s background? Since it was such a high profile case, didn’t they find anything questionable in his history?” There was a subplot that was a bit absurb; perhaps it was added just to pad the book? And, the denouement seemed rushed and somewhat of a jumble. Despite those flaws, I couldn’t put this book down and read it in two sittings.

Not sure why this book's called the 16th Seduction. That said, I thought it was good. Dealing with terrorism has become a common theme of today. That's what the SFPD is doing. How fast someone can go from the top of the mountain to the deepest valley is one event. Lindsay finds out the truth of that and has to relive horrible memories. Lindsay, Claire, Yuki & Cindy make a great team and their personalities are unique, adding to the story. As always I love the short chapters and the simple writing.

Better then the last few. Good suspenseful plot full of twists and turns. However, I felt that the book ended abruptly. Bring back more of the actual Woman's Murder Club.

Exceptional, quick read! Quick because I really never wanted to put this book down. My only regret was the conclusion. I would love to have read it a totally different way. Patterson and Paetro continue to make a great team with the Women's Murder Club. This story wasn't bogged down with too many personal, duel stories going on, and I found this refreshing. Looking forward to a 17th installment of this series!

Love that Lindsey and Joe are working things out. And things are not always what they seem.
