This is a fantastic short story. It has all the elements I like: mystery, action, romance and a hot werewolf. Ava’s job as sheriff is to keep the peace between the shifters, vampires, and humans. Yep, it’s as easy as it sounds, especially with someone out there killing humans and vampires. The suspect turns out to be Ava’s hot one night stand Julian, Alpha of the wolf pack. The connection between the two is strong and Julian wants Ava back. Together they need to find out who’s been doing the killings and keep Ava alive after she’s been betrayed by those she should’ve been able to trust. For a short story this was remarkably detailed and did leave me wishing it had been longer and more developed. It could’ve easily been novel length.

Definitely worth the time! I've never read this author before, but I will surely read her again after this. This short is a great, well-written, intriguing, hot and steamy read. I highly recommend for anyone who likes paranormal romance.

It had evrrything a short story should have. A sexy alpha male, a beautiful female, the powerful attraction between them and the violence they endured to the very satisfying ending.

Truly enjoyed this!!! Couldn't believe it was free...left me immediately searching for the next in the series. This one is very short at only 100 pages but it pulled me right in and left me wanting to know more about Ava and Julian!

Short, interesting, well written. Somehow it all comes together in a mere hundred pages.

This was a great free read. The characters were well developed, had history and chemistry. The action moved at a good pace and I liked the way it ended. The story was set around Halloween and would make a fun little read for that time of year. The world was interesting and the rules fairly typical for a paranormal urban romance. The female lead was tough and smart and the alpha was everything you would want in an escapist story. Will need to see what else this author has written.

Will be purchasing more by this author. Great story. Great characters. Made me want to know more about this world. Wish this book was longer!

I really enjoyed this book. Wish it had been longer, though. Less than 90 pages.

This book was a great book only problem with this book was that it was so short.I read this book under a hour. It had potential to be a longer book .

This was a nice, quick read. I mentions vampires but it doesn't do much more than that. It is mainly about the werewolfs and the two main characters. A werewolf alfa and a human paranormal investigator. Some of it is a but rushed but not so much that you miss chunks of the story, I would like to see it turn into a full length novel, has real potential.

Very short read but fantastically written. It has the sweet romance, action, a little mystery, and of course a hot werewolf. Ava is a small town sheriff trying to keep the peace between the shifters, vamps and humans in the midst of some murders that are happening around her. This is extremely fast passed and yet so on the mark and cannot wait for Cynthia Eden's next book to read. Well done!

Ava's just trying to keep the peace between the shifters, vamps and humans in her small town, but the dead bodies keep turning up. And there's this small problem of an Alpha were who's taken a keen interest in her. Picked this novella up as a freebie not knowing what to expect. It's a great PNR story with a bit of heat.

I admit I like free stuff. I also admit I'm not entirely rational in my thought process. For example, I happily hand over my Bouchercon and Left Coast Crime Conference fees and feel like I've won the lottery when I receive a bag filled with books. Seriously, this ends up being one of the major highlights of these conferences. So in my continued pursuit of this high, minus the conference fees, I have decided to scour Amazon for the best free short stories and books available. With that being said, let's get to the review. First, I should probably warn you that I'm not exactly the target audience for paranormal romance. If I saw a big breasted, blonde vampire, or werewolf, in tight leather pants, my first thought would not be how hot she looked. Well, it might be...but then I'd run like a roadrunner and hope to hell she didn't spot me, because I don't exactly have the strength to fend off the undead or not-so-dead, even if she ends up being about a foot shorter than me. And, besides, I'd rather not pop a woman, even if she has claws or fangs, right in the kisser. I did, however, find myself entertained with this werewolf-filled short story. And the eye-popping sex scene nearly caused my back teeth to float. With bars and cars exploding and psychopathic killers hovering just above the streets, there's action to be had around every corner. It's like the reading equivalent of big breasted, blonde eye candy, and I soaked in every page. Ava provided just enough spunk for me, even though she did swoon a bit too easily whenever Julian was around, but I guess werewolves have that effect on women. Which kind of begs the question if my wife would approve of me becoming a bit bigger and hairier. And if she does, then I'll probably be forced to reevaluate my overall opinion of the paranormal romance sub-genre. In the meantime, you can't beat free, especially if you're a paranormal fan. A BIT OF BITE should satisfy your craving. Robert Downs Author of Falling Immortality: Casey Holden, Private Investigator

A good read wish it was longer. I finished it in an hour. It had enough to really make it a good long novel. Fast paced, action packed.

I was just looking for a good quick red before bed, and this really hit the spot! Really sweet, with an actual storyline for a change... only complaint, now i want to stay up and read more of her stories!!!

This was a nice sample of miss eden's work. Her attention to small details kept you from focusing on how quickly the story jumped from scene to scene. This is a good chaser between books.

Very good short story. It kept you interested throughout the fast paced adventure. The ending was good, but had me cheking for a sequel. There hoqwever is none, so I believe the book could have been better if author had provided more detail and made this more of a full length novel.
