A Course in Miracles (often called just “the Course”) is a self-study course for retraining the mind that is spiritual, rather than religious, in its perspective. Although it uses Christian terminology, it is ecumenical in its approach, and its underlying ontology is reminiscent of ancient refrains, echoing the world’s most hallowed traditions. The Course is pragmatic in its method, and its aim is a peaceful mind: “Knowledge is not the motivation for learning this course. Peace is.” Nevertheless, the Course frequently emphasizes its simplicity.  The edition of A Course in Miracles that is reproduced in this volume is sometimes referred to as the Hugh Lynn Cayce version because, upon completion, it had been delivered to Hugh Lynn Cayce, son of the renowned psychic Edgar Cayce, in 1972, before the manuscript was subjected to the substantial editing process that is described below.

There were multiple versions of original edition of ACIM available for Nook. I wanted to get the complete set, which included the workbook for students and the teacher's manual. Because the description of this particular version talks about the three parts and was the most expensive version, I purchased this one, thinking it contained all three parts. Alas this is not the case, and only has the text. Save yourself $ and buy the $4.99 version of the original text which has a better font (IMO) or the Whitecrow publishers version, which does have all three parts.

A Course in Miracles is an interpretation of spirituality and is too immense for me to try to explain in this review. If the idea of "there is only love and fear; God is pure love and that is all that is Real" strikes you as interesting, then by all means - check out the 365 ACIM workbook lessons. If not, then ACIM is probably not for you. Personally, I am a fan, and it's what I try to read every morning for inspiration. Okay, now that's out of the way, let me get to the point of my review: I ABSOLUTELY LOVE HAVING A COURSE IN MIRACLES ON MY NOOK! When I forget to read it or need an extra little pick-me-up, there it is. Plus ... the "last page read" aspect of an ereader is perfect for perfect. So - speaking to those who already know and use ACIM - I say ... get the e-version. In fact, I would recommend getting an e-copy of whatever your spiritual guide book is, if you haven't already.

I've been using this book for over a year. It is the most gentle loving and profound guide i've ever had for getting to the peace and love that is God. This has a text and a workbook ....really its more of a simple day by day meditation..... that changes the way you look at life & brings you closer to God. It doesn't contradict anything in the Bible. I love the electronic version to take with me & i love the book version cause I love to look at the dates & highlighted areas and see how far I've come in my journey. My electronic version is the original text & my hard copy is the edited version. The edited version is prolly the best one for a new reader as it has less personal information about the author & as a result is alittle more clear initally.

written by disgruntled Columbia University Professors and medical psychologists Schucman (Ex Jew turned atheist turned generic post Christian Theist) and Thetford (ex Christian Scientist turned generic post Christian Theist) This is nicknamed ACIM and indexed like a Bible for further referencing and legitimacy of the work. Done so, I believe, because the Torah and Bible we given cursory and superficial readings by these professors so despite their differences in theological upbringing, they felt an overwhelming need to come up with a new “scripture” from Jesus which until both had passed on, they did not tie their names to. The circle of atonement and forgiveness is rather attractive because in essence only that which you perceive as offenses and occasions forgiveness, needs to be addressed. The person that repeatedly smacks you in the face (literally or figuratively) is to be forgiven because this action of forgiveness is to become automatic. Notwithstanding that to err is human, but to persevere is diabolical- that would be judgmental; forgiveness is to become a force of habit (p. 245). So there is no need for a private forum such as Confession to a priest or counseling where this may be challenged. Embrace the erroneous opinion that “Buddhism is a step in the right direction because it doesn’t run away from the mind as Christianity does.” Mark 12:30 notwithstanding: “You shall love the Lord with all your heart; with all your soul; with your entire mind; and with all your strength” and later in the passage “with all your understanding.” This is negated because Schucman nullifies this in a world where the goal is to separate from the body, and the Bible got it mostly wrong according to him because of many re-writes. Schucman dismisses and reinvesnt what came before and see it not only as a necessity to correct, but a need to teach others and form a new quasi-theology. After all, navel gazing in this way is of great attraction to societies that want “cheap grace”. This is grace as doctrine and a right, rather than any kind of “sweat equity”. What is required is that grace comes at a great personal cost in actions and deeds (Dietrich Bonheoffer). This is a new age turn-off. Because that would have us accountable to others in this world, and see them as reality; and furthermore believe that personal choices have communal effects. Therein guilt may actually cause a needed metanoia (that is change in one's way of life resulting from penitence or spiritual conversion). This would in turn place responsibility on us and our actions; rather than vague new age blame on past lives for who we are, what we decide, and what we are as unique individuals (body and soul) This is because Schucman says you only have two choices: true home with God or the thought of separation or individuality. In this vain, body and soul together cannot become one with God, only the soul- to say otherwise would make you a complete person- body and soul united, which is anti ACIM . Rather than say that this was their private view, Schucman and CIA mind control expert Theford maintained as many relgions di in the past 200 years- that this is "another testament of Jesus Christ". Other than naming Jesus and the Holy Spirit to further their agenda, this book and its follow ons are a waste of time and have a rather condescending and elitist approach that dismisses with a stroke of the pen all scripture that came before it..

Been a sudent since 1985. This set of books, as stated above, is not the only course of miracles, that's why it's named "A" and not "Thy Course in Mircales. I had great desirer for this Heavenly new thought system, I get goose bumps just hearing or reading the title. I also had the ability, and still do, being to understand and read it as if I was reading a "Dick n Jane" book. ACIM is the greatest gift to planet earth since the birth of "CHRIST", n his resurrection, period. You too will be reborn, but you must have desire , n to rid yourself of pain n dispair, and to be willing to find out who is causing all this pain n torment in your life, because ACIMs is going to explain it in great detail so it will Never happen again. After you accept or atleast have a will to end all pain and suffering, in you life, you WILL now be heading at LIGHT speed towards everything your Bible has promissed, LOVE, PEACE and JOY. There will be no turning back. Follow the lessions, after reading the text to get a understanding first ,so you can set your goal toJOY n LOVE. One more thing, don't even glance at the lessions untill you do what I just suggested. Best yet, start by reading the book titled, " A Journey Without Distance", author Hellen S. n Bill T . Always start at the beginning. God Bless. Paul R.
