Overview

Jaded Army medic Ryan Malone never expected his next mission would bring him back from Afghanistan to tiny Wishful, Mississippi. His great uncle's health is failing and the cantankerous old coot has pushed everyone in the family away. Ryan is their last resort to get Uncle Percy to move into assisted living before he breaks a hip--or something worse. He's looking to get in, get it done, and get back out. That definitely doesn't include taking time out for a sweet-faced waitress with a heart bigger than the Atlantic.

Interior designer Hannah Wheeler is a long way from the high-powered clients of her old Atlanta firm. Despite the fact that she's currently spending her days waiting tables, she's discovered she really enjoys the small-town life she found with her sister. This Christmas season, she's finally ready to introduce Wishful to her true capabilities by using her skills to spread some holiday spirit. But with Ryan and Percy, she's definitely got her work cut out for her.

Will Hannah's evergreen cheer thaw their frosty hearts and remind these two that the most important part of the holidays is family?

I love all of the Wishful novels. The characters are real and fun to know. Wishful is the kind of town I’d like to live in. The newcomers feel the same way.

A soldier on leave finds love and purpose beyond his military life when an interior decorator acting as a decorating elf for a small town shows him kindness. As she fills him with Christmas spirit, both realize there's more to the lives they've been leading. Will love be enough to bridge the distance of a deployed soldier and his new girlfriend? A heartwarming Christmas romance.

A wonderful Christmas story in the small town of Wishful. The story line will get you in the Christmas spirit and give you a warm and comfortable feeling. The characters are loveable and interesting. They fit so well into the Wishful community. If you haven't read any of the prior stories from this small town you will want to after this intriguing story of small town friendship and giving. I recommend for a captivating story to make you look forward to the holidays anytime of year.

I couldn't decide who to fall in love with more - Percy or Ryan? Hannah seems to be able to tame the men in her life but can't manage to deal with her own past or stand up for her future. Once Percy, Duke, and Miss Betty get sorted, maybe she and Ryan can, too. I love the fact that the Casserole Patrol get some action in this story. Kait has simply done it again. Read on! This is one of Kait's best storys! It had me feeling all the emotions at some point. You could not help but fall in love with Hannah. I have never read about lovemaking the way Kait writes about it. It is so sexy and yet so beautiful without using street slang! I can't wait to read her next book.

I am in love with all of Kait's books and I have long waited for this particular book in the series and it was everything I was hoping for. You have a sexy military man and a sweet and charming woman for him to fall in love with and thrown in for good measure a grumpy but equally charming senior gentleman. The story line is funny and hits all of the heart feels. It is impossible to be in a bad mood while reading this book. You will want to move to Wishful when all is said and done. I love the simmer between the characters and the way they help each other grow as people. It was also cute having Ryan's uncle as one of the main characters. He added an extra level of curmudgeonly charm. I enjoyed it. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This might be my favourite book by Kait Nolan. What starts of with Hannah mistaking Ryan for being homeless, because of this appearance - he has been travelling for what seems like weeks, to get home to his ailing 'Uncle' Percy. The attraction is instant the moment Hannah sets down coffee and soup in front of Ryan, at the diner. He realizes what she might think - but he's watching her decorate the Christmas tree, with quiet enjoyment; forks, spoons etc., make an interesting choice of ornaments - he's amused. He quietly, slips out, leaving her a big tip. A little time passes, and Hannah is to do a favour for a friend - decorate the house for Percy, who is lonely and had lost his wife a couple of years ago - Hannah goes to the house, and who opens the door but Ryan. She is pleasantly surprised. Sparks are flying, the mutual attraction is hard to miss. He helps with the decorating, with a lot of encouragement from Percy. Ryan and Hannah get close, but she has some baggage, and he is battle weary, he is a soldier. They have each other to confide in - they each need that. But, a friend of Ryan's is killed in action, and this brings out all bad feelings out of Ryan which he then throws on Hannah - she doesn't accept that and confronts him, They do work through it all, with a few bumps in the road from Percy. There is so much more to this story - it really is so very good; you need to get all the depth Kait takes her characters, and struggles Hannah is facing. They do get a HEA, but the journey there is worth the read.

Great feel good story. I grabbed a latte, curled up under a blanket and read this book from cover to cover. I loved how Hannah led her man back into the light and the casserole patrol brought an old man who was giving up back to life. Really enjoying all of the books in this series and that touch of southern hospitality and warmth that keeps popping up. Keep the coming please...

ARC for honest review with no compensation received from BookSprout Ryan a Delta Force medic on leave for Christmas, comes to Wishful after a call from his mother to check on his stubborn Uncle Percy who has become a homebody after the death of his wife a few years prior. Fresh off the plane he borrows his buddy’s truck to head to Wishful and breaks down outside of town, walks to town and goes to the diner and meets Hannah a waitress who thinks he is a homeless person. She waits on him and tries to spread holiday cheer but he doesn’t really respond... Hannah a big city interior designer, now a waitress in Wishful recovering from a horrible accident and with her never ending optimism for spreading holiday cheer and the hopes of starting her own interior design business. With the help of a Secret Santa she ends up at Uncle Percy’s to use her skills to decorate his house and who answers the door but Ryan! The magic of Wishful brings these two together in an unusual way and maybe they can help each other to overcome the fears they both are hiding deep inside.

I loved this from beginning to end. Ryan and Hannah meet with Ryan leaving the wrong impression. Hannah didn't know that he was the nephew for the man she was hired to bring some Christmas spirit to his home with a festive holiday makeover. Ryan is dealing with issues from being a SEAL and his uncle Percy is dealing with the loss of his wife. Hannah is determined to help the both open up to some Christmas spirit. It's a journey filled with humor and good intentions! They are meant for each other if they can just get out of each others way! Kait Nolan does it again! I always enjoy returning to Wishful, getting to know her newest characters while checking in on those we've met before and come to love and this story is no different. As always, the Casserole Patrol shows up bringing a chuckle as they tend to do. No worries, if this is your first or many of Wishful tales as they can all be read as stand-alones. Army Medic Ryan takes leave from his military duty and has his hands full checking up on his Uncle Percy; who is getting up there in age without insulting Percy's pride and dignity but still needing to determine whether Percy can maintain his independence. Meanwhile, Interior Decorator Hannah is new to Wishful and decides to decorate storefronts and homes in preparation for the holidays as a way to showcase her design talents and spread Christmas cheer. Hannah gets tasked to decorate Percy's home since Christmas just hasn't been the same since Percy's wife died. With more time on his hands than he is used to, Ryan jumps in with both feet to help Hannah decorate while Ryan elicits Hannah's help in assessing Percy's health and fortitude. While Percy's struggles are more apparent as a lonely widow, Ryan and Hannah both have baggage they are carrying around that comes to clash with one another and all three are more stubborn than the next which creates some challenging pitfalls. Don't want to say more so as to avoid spoilers but oh so loved the character development which is always a strength of Kait's. A Lot Like Christmas It’t a fun Christmas time love story. I love the wishful series and this is wonderful installment that doesn’t disappoint. I loved Percy and the casserole patrol. Loved the premise of this story. There were several themes woven together that kept intersecting and you really didn’t know where it would end up. The casserole patrol getting involved in one of the main threads was awesome - you’re never too old for romance. I also love the familiar characters being in the outskirts, it helped ground the story for me. Can’t wait to hear/read more about these characters in the future. Long distance doesn't usually happen in Wishful so that was quite a surprise! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Every story in this series is fun and makes me happy. Hannah and Ryan's story is no different. Hannah has overcome a lot in her life but has a very positive outlook. She likes to take care of others and notices things people need without being asked. This is how she meets Ryan. She mistook him for a homeless vet and reached out. This is a lesson we should all learn. Ryan is visiting Wishful while trying to take care of an extended family member. The two are perfect for each other! The story made me laugh and cry. It was a great story. I'm already ready to go back to Wishful!

Nolan brings readers back to Wishful, Mississippi for the holidays in this short Christmas romance. Hannah Wheeler is recovered, mostly, from her terrible car accident over a year ago. She should get on with her "real" life, but she likes it in Wishful and is looking for a way to merge the old life with the new life. Ryan Malone is taking leave from his military career to make sure his uncle is well enough to continue living alone. Christmas brings people together. Hannah and Ryan are drawn to each other from the beginning. Even when Hannah believes he is homeless and offers him coffee and kindness. This is a sweet romance with a head of steam. Can these two build a new relationship long distance? There is always hope in Wishful. I highly recommend this book to fans of the contemporary romance genre. Really good read. What I have come to expect from Kait Nolan. Never bad when you have a dog involved. Ryan and Hannah's story has some twists and turns, Throw in a cantankerous uncle, and you get a great story. I can't say more without spoiling it and I hate to do that for people. So just read it for yourself. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

A lot like Christmas On leave from Afghanistan during the Christmas holiday Special Forces Sergeant Ryan comes to Wishful to help out and check in on his elderly widowed uncle Percy. Hannah has come to Wishful to stay with her sister while healing from an auto accident of almost one year ago. Being an interior decorator Hannah decides to spread Christmas cheer by helping the towns business and residents decorate for the Holiday. Things get a bit heated when Hannah shows up to full out decorate Percy’s home and bring him some well deserved Christmas cheer! But what will become of the budding romance when Ryan must report back to duty on Christmas night?

There is nothing at all quite like a Wishful Christmas. I’m a sucker for a military hero and I simply ADORE Wishful. Pair these things together and I’m happier than a cat with her own garden full of catnip. Hanna embodies the Christmas spirit I wish I could maintain. Her unrelenting delight in the season is awe inspiring to witness. Being in military service and having seen and done what he has, Ryan’s a bit more cynical about the season. So, what happens when the burned-out army medic is forced to spend time with the holiday elf? A Christmas miracle. And in case you didn’t already realize, keep the tissues handy because, like me, you’ll probably need them before you get to the end. I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book from the author through Booksprout.

Hannah is trying to get her life back on track after an accident took away her confidence to drive. She was an interior decorator and came to Wishful to live with her sister while she tried to get her life together. Ryan is a medic in the military special forces and his mother asks him to take leave to check on his uncle in Wishful. When they first meet, Hannah thinks Ryan is a homeless vet but their second meeting is pure coincidence. They end helping each other face their fears while facing their own fears. While they both think that they are only helping Ryan's uncle, they are helping each other and themselves in the process. The story shows that sometimes when you give advice you realize you need to take that advice also. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Best quote A Lot Like Christmas: "And that wouldn’t have been your fault either, because even here, outside a warzone, tragedies just happen. There’s only one of you, and you can’t carry everyone on your shoulders, no matter how impressive they are. No matter how much you believe you can control everything, you can’t." My opinion: Hannah starts to make beautiful creations for the local stores, custom made. I would have liked to see the creations Hannah made. They have been so nicely described and I”m curious to see the results. Kait Nolan did a perfect job in A Lot Like Christmas to develop the characters. They speak immediately to the mind. I could see how they are moving, standing, reacting in every situation. And I really love that, because this way the story gets more real for me. Like I’m in Wishful and participating in every scene. 8,5 stars: Ryan says this to Hannah: “Hopeful. I figure the world needs more people like you in it.” And I think that is what A Lot Like Christmas is all about. It’s a hopeful book that brings warmth to your heart and soul. It brings you hope.
