Overview

When the only form of justice that counts is your own.

For fans of suspense thrillers – a tense tale of murder, conspiracy and revenge.

When a murder case lands on the desk of an experienced cop with an unblemished record, it looks like business as usual. But solving this one will test his principles right to the breaking point ...

One sunny summer morning in the City of London, an archaeological researcher just back from India is gunned down as he leaves a coffee shop. Who did it, and why? That's the question facing DCI Nick Severance as he investigates his latest murder case.

When the answers lead to a conspiracy that could endanger the lives of thousands of innocent people, Nick has his hands full. But when they also threaten to destroy the woman he loves, he makes a choice that changes his life forever.

If you like your thrillers with an international setting and a touch of the exotic, then this one is for you.

About the Author

Mark McKay did a number of things before becoming a novelist – van driver, wine salesman, psychiatric orderly, Santa Claus at a major department store… He also spent many years working in the IT industry. After studying creative writing with the University of East Anglia in the UK, he wrote his first novel. Once bitten by the writing bug (for which there’s no cure), more novels followed.

When he isn’t writing, Mark is either reading, struggling to master the guitar, learning aikido (useful research), trying to find time to get out more, and looking for new and unusual experiences that might one day find their way into a book. His goal as a writer is to produce another 50 novels by the age of 100. His goal as a guitar player is to get beyond three chords. He’s pretty sure he can do it (the guitar bit, at least).

Really enjoyed the storyline and characters. The ending wasn't really what I expected, but it fit. It's actually nice to read a book for adults that's not filled with foul language and sex. I'll be buying the next book in the series.

A good book without graphic sex. I almost stopped reading it when I read a dog was shot. That was not neccesary to add to the story.

Well organized story with too many subplots but overall a satisfactory if too much violence read. Looking foreward to the next two installments of the trilogy. Reading as a Yank, I have to keep reminding myself that the story is about Brits, to keep the logic logical.

Exceptional storyline that kept me on edge wondering how it would end. I will have to check out more on this author.

I was hooked in the first few pages. A meaty, complex plot with characters you want to be your friends. Great action, twisty outcomes, but satisfying conclusion that makes you eager for the next book in the series without being an actual cliffhanger. I will definitely read the rest of the series.

Some what implausible but acceptable for a thriller. If you like a lot of dead bodies this book should satisfy you.

I enjoyed reading this book very much. Because of the different countries visited throughout the story it keeps you intrigued. The characters meld great together.. Looking forward to reading more stories by this author. He has captured and peaked my interest in what else he can do as a writer.

Slow and predictable at times but some good twists. A Little more action would have been nice but I would consider reading the next installment.

Too many characters to keep up with. Story line seemed juxtaposed.
