Overview

The essential lifestyle book for the rapidly expanding community of air stream lovers-no matter what make or model.

The versatility of the sleek metallic gems of Airstream and other manufacturers has captured the imagination of a new generation. Paris Hilton used one to tour the country in The Simple Life. Designer Ralph Lauren owns four. Airstream Living explores these vehicles' many uses, from vacation travel to permanent residence, from home office to pool house, from on-set accommodation for movie stars to businesses like diners and stores.

Profiles of real-life owners reveal how they use their trailers to enhance their lifestyle, and vacationers will find advice on how to live well in their Airstreams. Inspirational photographs accompany advice on decorating interiors in styles that range from simple to opulent: retro chic, Ralph Lauren's Adirondack and Western themes, a seaside look for coastal touring, and much more. Practical advice covers everything from buying your first Airstream, to care and cleaning tips, to solutions for storage, and a directory provides a thorough listing of suppliers and websites.

For anyone who owns an Airstream, or is thinking about purchasing one, this book is a must-read for living life to the fullest with a land yacht.

About the Author

Bruce Littlefield is a New York-based designer, writer, and restaurateur. Hailed as a "design and lifestyle guru" by Publisher's Weekly, he is the author of the recently published Garage Sale America and Airstream Living, and co-writer of the best-selling Use What You've Got and Other Business Lessons I learned from My Mom with real-estate magnate Barbara Corcoran. Originally from the south, decorating for Christmas is as natural as breathing to Bruce, and each December finds him attempting over-the-top mischief. His personal collection of Christmas treasures can be found displayed proudly every hol iday season in a 1940s Catskills' farmhouse, which he renovated and decorated himself.

A real pleasure guide to creative ideas & a variety of designs to customize or upgrade your trailer. Excellent photography and well written with a fun sense of humor for what trailer life is all about. Great book if you own a trailer or are considering purchasing one.

For the left side of your brain, there are lots of interesting technical details on Airstream design and construction. If you're thinking of buying an Airstream, this is a must-read. The right side of your brain will enjoy the stories about how people have used their Airstream to express their creativity and personality. However your brain may be constructed, you will enjoy this book.

Received this as a gift because I enjoy Littlefield's writing. Found to my delight that his style is present as he captures the personal stories and adventures of people who, like me, are always looking forward to their next trip. As an avid traveler from early childhood, I was delighted to be invited into the interiors of the vehicles that had fascinated me as we drove up and down the East Coast. The photos showed a reality that went beyond my imagination.

I couldn't wait for this book to arrive and it exceded my expectations. Bruce Littlefield really captures the fun with these interesting stories about what people have done to their Airstreams. This well put together book would be a great gift for design enthusiasts or trailer travelers.

This book absolutely captures everything that Airstream is--from great design to great adventure. The photographs are stunningly beautiful and shows off the interiors of the trailers and the author writes beautifully of the people who have found great uses of the silver gems. I highly recommend this book whether you're an owner, a designer, or a dreamer.

If you aren't able to surf the web, then this book might be useful to you. This book arrived later than promised, with a faded cover, and the binder was toast -- none of which was the author's fault. However, the content was equally stale -- the book was published almost 4 years ago, so I knew I was taking my chances. Not interesting enough to keep for inspiration -- returned the same day I got it.
