Believe Storybook by Randy Frazee is awesome! This book teaches children how they can think, act, and be more like Jesus. The illustrations throughout the book are absolutely beautiful. Since beginning this book I have seen my kids trying to think, act, and be more like Jesus which makes my heart sing! I love anything that encourages us to be more like Jesus and I have to admit that this Believe Storybook has been helping me to think, act, and be more like Jesus as well. We all need help with this on a daily basis so sitting down with my kids and focusing on doing just that has helped my family in a tremendous way. My husband, kids and I truly enjoy this book. Believe Storybook would be a terrific gift to families this holiday season! Disclosure: I received product(s) for free, in exchange for my honest review. I only recommend products I've used personally, and believe will be good fit for consumers.
If you follow my blog you probably already know that I like to dabble in art. So when a book comes along that is beautifully illustrated it just captures my attention. Believe Storybook did exactly that. I love the content of the book and I'm thrilled that it goes along with the rest of the Believe curriculum allowing little ones to study along with the rest of their family. But I have to say that the art work is what stands out to me. I'm going to have to keep my eyes open for more of Steve Adams' work. This book is set up like the others in that it has three sections that speak about how to think, act and be like Jesus. Laurie Lazzaro Knowlton has helped Randy Frazee adapt the language so that younger children will easily grasp the concepts. This duo did a fabulous job in the overall presentation. The thirty chapters cover the same topics that the Believe Kids' Edition and the Believe Student Edition do but it is designed to be read to 4-8 year olds. I would recommend this whole series of books to families with multiple age levels of kids. What a nice way to study the same concepts and topics at appropriate levels. The thought of dinner conversations about the Scriptures studied by the whole family just warms my heart. How precious would it be for your six-year-old to be able to talk about Samson and self-control with your sixteen-year-old? Those families that choose to use these resources are definitely going to be blessed! I received a copy of this book to facilitate my review.
This book is a lot larger in real life than I expected and is the kind of book I'm immediately drawn to because of the stunning cover design. Every element of the cover and it's colors just draws me in! And opening it, this book just keeps getting better and better even! Randy has divided the book into three major sections being: The Core Beliefs of Christian Life, The Core Practices of Christian Life and The Core Virtues of Christian Life. I just love how he has organized it - He will have the paragraph with the key thought, then he will direct to the Old Testament - something that ties in. Following that there is a 'Jump To Jesus' part which brings Jesus in and onto the New Testament example then ending with a section called 'The Jesus Answer' which is a practical application. There is also a key idea and verse for each section which you could easily do as a memory verse. I love everything about this book! As I mentioned above, it is organized so well and very easy to follow. I love the illustrations and design of the book from cover to cover - it is truly a piece of art! Finally I love the content and topic choices - so relevant and practical for children. This is truly a quality teaching book for children to bring the Bible and their faith to life! I would love to see more by this author maybe a series in the same format? Highly recommend this one! Please note: Booklook sent me a complimentary copy of this book for review. This review is entirely my own.
Edited by Randy Frazee, with Laurie Lazzaro Knowlton. Illustrated by Steve Adams is based on the newest series of books, Published by Zondervan. This "Believe" brand includes the original for adults, and versions for every age group followed: teen, school aged and preschooler. I don't think anyone could mistake this hardcover volume for a traditional children's bible story book. The front cover features a peaceful, serene, yet secular image of children playing within a larger image of a playful child. If anything, the image is more mystical or new age rather than Christian. If it were not for the subtitle "Think, Act, Be Like Jesus", it would be hard to deduce this book as Christian. I was pleasantly surprised to see this children's book full of substance. The stylized art is high quality. Abstract, yet true to its spiritual subject- depicting solemnity, as well as the dignity the bible merits. This is a vast contrast to the superficial, cartoon like drawings often seen in Children's bible story books. This book is a work of art. As far as the content, spiritual topics are addressed- not just storytelling. Side by side with bible stories are bits of theology written in easy to understand, simple to digest chunks, perfect for young children. If you are looking for an alternative to the superficial bible story books that saturate the market, this is the book for you! As a blogger for BookLook, I received a copy if this book for the purpose of writing this review.
