When an English painter moves to Provence in search of the muse, he is looking not only for artistic fulfillment but also for love, family and community. This funny and touching memoir chronicles his unconventional route towards almost everything he desires, whilst painting a vivid picture of how hard it can be for one man to face a blank canvas - even in paradise.

I have to tell you how much I enjoyed this book: Cherries from Chauvet's Orchard. I have received Julian's daily postcards for years and stupidly never bought one. I had met Duane Kaiser because of my blog "A Pear A Day" and I started looking around to see who else was doing that. Julian's blog looked great so I subscribed to it shortly after he started it. This book is so wonderful. I just bought six more to give to my friends who are either painters, cooks or just lovers of Provence.
