I recently stumbled across Sheree Marty's CJR website (http://chinesejumprope.tripod.com) and having remembered playing the game in my neighborhood, I took a chance and ordered the book for my own children. I was pleasantly surprised. Marty's book surpasses other Chinese Jump Rope books on the market by leaps and bounds! The format is easy to use by children, yet appropriate for use by persons who work with children. Don't be fooled by publishers pairing an actual CJR with the book. CJR ropes are easy to make and easy to find-Marty details how to do so in her book.In fact, this book is full of information! Although this book is an out of print title, many copies are available through Barnes and Noble. I highly recommend this title and plan to buy several during the holiday season. This is a great gift for children of any age!
Chinese Jump Rope is a fantastic guidebook for use by the middle reader child interested in this fun rope-skipping game. The illustrations are simple and easy for children to understand. Adults working with children will also enjoy the book and can easily introduce the game due to the excellent format of the book. Much more informative than other CJR books on the market!! Too BAD this book is out of print-what was this publisher thinking? I highly recommend!!!
