A Christmas light shines bright in the midst of the darkest winter in this novel in Thomas Kinkade and Katherine Spencer’s Cape Light series.

With Christmas only a few weeks away, Sam and Jessica Morgan look forward to celebrating the joyous day together. But when they’re awakened by the smoke alarm in the midst of one quiet night, they barely make it outside before their beloved house is engulfed in flames. Meanwhile, single mom Julie Newton and her seven-year-old daughter appear on Jack Sawyer’s doorstep, thanks to bad weather, a broken-down car, and a dead cell phone battery. And though Jack, still mourning the loss of his wife, feels none of the holiday spirit, he can’t turn them away. As Sam and Jessica become perpetual guests in others’ homes, trying to piece their future back together, and Jack finds his frozen heart melting day by day, it soon becomes clearer than ever that miracles can happen even in the humblest of settings.

I am hooked on this series and I get antsy waiting for the newest book to hit the stores, every year. It has become a family thing, my sisters and Mother love the series just as much and we get a book and it runs through the ranks.A Christmas Star didn't disappoint. Once again I was transported to the tiny town of Cape Light where everyone knows everyone. I grew up in a town much like that. Cape Light is a town where sometimes crime intrudes, but not often and where the ills of the world and everyday life still happen. It is a place you wish for in today's day and age, but rarely, if ever, find anymore. A town that you only really see in Thomas, Kinkade paintings. Each book has a message and a Christian background. This installment deals with loss, be it material or personal. It runs through all the emotions one goes through at a time of loss and the emotions experienced in trying to come back from it.Now sadly I have finished this installment and must wait until December 2009 for the next.I do not want to write which characters this book covers or what their losses were, that way you get to experience the magic and message for yourself.

I love that each book reveals more about the people who live in Cape Light so you learn more about how all their lives are intertwined with each other.

Roaming the book store looking for light reading material, wanting something to touch the heart, I stumbled upon "A Christmas Star". The cover caught my attention first. As I read the flap/backcover, I easily added it to my basket. The story line, the characters came to life as I read the book, bringing joy and tears as I moved through the chapters. This was a lucky choice, an accidental find. I have gone back to seek out addtional books by author.
