Then Ashton Corners is hit with another shock when Teensy’s publisher turns up dead—and fellow club member and former police chief Bob Miller is taken into custody.

Convinced that Teensy’s missing books hold the key to the murder, Lizzie Turner and her band of readers are determined to hunt them down. Teensy Coldicutt has moved back to Ashton Corners and reunites with her childhood friend Molly Mathews. Molly is very excited to have her friend back in town and thrilled to learn that Teensy has written book, a steamy novel. She quickly enlisted the help of the Ashton Corners Mystery Readers and Cheese Straws Society, the local book club, to plan a book signing tour to promote the book. But there must be more to this sexy story than it appears because Molly is attacked and several boxes of Teensy’s books are stolen. Then the publisher of the book is murdered and fellow club member and former police chief Bob Miller is taken into custody. Why would a titillating novel written by an elderly widow draw such criminal attention? and what in the world could Bob have to do with it? Lizzie and her friends are determined to find out the rest of the story before the killer gets the chance to write someone else off… I love this series and adore all of the characters but Molly is my favorite. She is my kind of lady, nothing and no one stands in her way. In this story she even gets attacked and injured and she barely misses a step. Thankfully Lizzie knows how to handle/take care of her and does her very best to keep her safe. The Ashton Corners Mystery Readers and Cheese Straws Society group as a whole are all unique and real and a grand group of people. I would love to be a member of this group! Erika Chase gives us quite a mystery to solve in this installment with the twists and turns that keep us guessing until the very end. This reader was very surprised with the way this one played out. The author brings the book club feel by starting each chapter with a line from a popular mystery and includes the reading list of each book club member at the end of the book. I really enjoy seeing both current and past mysteries and their authors mentioned throughout the story. Like when the youngest member of the group is concerned about the killer blowing up Lizzie’s car to stop her from investigating, the other members try to steer her away from reading too much of Janet Evanovich’s Stephanie Plum series. It is touches like this that make the story so enjoyable. Book Fair and Foul is the next title in this fun and entertaining series. I can’t wait for my next escape to Ashton Corners.

At the last page, I had a smile on my face. Thank you for that book. I needed that. Anyway, as you can tell, I like, no, really like this series. You have a book club, sleuthing, a murder mystery, friendships and did I mention a book club? You have a local author moving back to Ashton Corners, launching her book, is an old friend of Molly's. From there, let's just say things happen the more the gang try to get their new friend's book out there. Looks like they have another mystery to deal with. This one I just had to get after finishing the last one. And you know what? I just kept on reading, wanting to know what the book club gang find next. But it has its share of heartwarming moments, moments where I couldn't help but face palm (which there wasn't many but still) and moments where I'm like, well he has a point, in a way. What I like in this one is the character growth, development, slow building friendship between Lizzie and Craig. You don't like her at first once the series starts, but you find that she's not that bad and you like her even. So kudos points for that. Oh and steering clear in a direction I was hoping it wouldn't go but found it didn't. Much appreciate it. And of course near the end, I couldn't put it down, nearing to the end, it was too good. And now really want the next book please. That and now I'm craving for ice tea and cookies, what with the mention of it throughout the book. Really good sequel.

Cover Story in the third book in the An Ashton Corners Book Club Mystery series. I love this series and enjoy how the author borrows lines from other author's books and uses them as chapter heading, then works that into the chapter. Molly's girlhood friend, Teensey Coldicutt, is moving back to Ashton Corners and her first book is soon to be published by a local publisher. Molly and the book club decide to book on a book launch and other promotions for Teensey. After the books for the club have been delivered, Molly is accosted in her home and the books are stolen. A day or two later Lizzie finds the publisher dead at the print shop. Lizzie goes back a couple days later replace the books that were stolen and finds counterfeit money in some of the boxes of books. Then when a body is found in the yard of book club member Bob Miller and he becomes a person of interest, Lizzie needs to pull out all the plugs and piece together just who the murderer is. All the characters from the previous books are back to lend a hand with the book promotion and help with the information gathering to find the murderer. The series has group of wonderful characters who all have their own stories that the readers will learn about. Ashton Corners is a lovely place to live and a community full of helpful friends. Looking forward to book #4.
