Rule number one: Don't piss off the dragon—or Sugar.

When Katie Bishop is asked to join an elite Savannah society that guards the city against all the supernatural riffraff that blows into town on a regular basis, she can't refuse. Especially when the city's latest threat has targeted her to help it escape from an ancient book it's been imprisoned in for over a century. You see, Katie isn't your average girl—she's a bit of a beast and owns a tattoo shop at the edge of town. She's also the only one who can tattoo a magical symbol on the demon's back that will set it permanently free—and live to tell about it.

Trying to run a business and keep her secrets intact, Katie's life is complicated enough. The easy thing would be to just apply the damn ink and be done with it, but there's just one problem—the demon plans to open the crossroads and let all hell break loose. If that happens, the city might as well get used to serving a new master.

With the help of her best friend, Lady Sugar—the queen of Savannah with hoodoo in her blood, and a coven of eclectic witches, they'll fight to take back their city.

No shrinking violets here. Maybe just a few misfits. Katie Bishop's clan has plenty of heart and grit, and Sugar will have you rolling!

Typical urban fantasy? Not exactly.

It seems to be a really good book with great potential, however, it is written in first person. I personally have a very difficult time reading first person. I prefer to be immersed in a story by “watching” from the sidelines. If you have no issues reading first person I would recommend this book.

Dragons, evil old Gods, shifters, and all at the crossings. Makes you wonder if Savannah will ever be the same.

New-to-me author to love! I just love when I come across a new author to love, and I have with this new-to-me author. This book was well-written, unique, and had a great plot, and I really was engrossed from the beginning to the end. I just loved all the characters; they were great in their respective roles, and I found them to be lively and entertaining. The only character I was a little hesitant about was Jackson; I wasn’t thrilled with him at first, but he did really grow on me as the book progressed. Now, I really can’t wait to read more in this series and books by this author. If you like great urban fantasy with a little romance thrown in, do yourself a favor and get this book. Highly recommend! I was provided the e-book which I voluntarily reviewed.
