Drawing is her world...but when her new pencil comes alive, it's his world too.

Her... Storey Dalton is seventeen and now boyfriendless after being dumped via Facebook. Drawing is her escape. It's like as soon as she gets down one image, a dozen more are pressing in on her. Then she realizes her pictures are almost drawing themselves...or is it that her new pencil is alive?

Him... Eric Jordan is a new Ranger and the only son of the Councilman to his world. He's crossed the veil between dimensions to retrieve a lost stylus. But Storey is already experimenting with her new pencil and what her drawings can do - like open portals.

It... The stylus is a soul-bound intelligence from Eric's dimension on Earth and uses Storey's unsuspecting mind to seek its way home, giving her an unbelievable power. She unwittingly opens a third dimension, one that held a dangerous predatory species banished from Eric's world centuries ago, releasing these animals into both dimensions.

Them... Once in Eric's homeland, Storey is blamed for the calamity sentenced to death. When she escapes, Eric is ordered to bring her back or face that same death penalty. With nothing to lose, can they work together across dimensions to save both their worlds?

Review: 5 Stars! A great story and a fun read. Dangerous Designs is a story of love, unexpected worlds and war. Ok that being said I have to say that I absolutely loved this story. The characters are well written with a depth seldom found in a novelette. The scenes are vivid and descriptive without being overly wordy. Across the board Dangerous Designs was a fantastic read. My favorite character of the story has to be the heroine Storey Dalton. She is a young woman, only 16, but she is strong and tenacious and filled with a compassion that I personally found heartfelt and endearing. Her skills with and curiosity about the Stylus are entertaining and well written. I really love her interactions with the people on the other side of the veil. Her passion and strength really show through when she is going toe to toe with Eric's Father. Eric Jordan was sent across to retrieve the Stylus but what he finds instead is a fiery young woman who captures his attention and possibly his heart. This young man is a delight to read. I love the way his demeanor and attitude change as he interacts with Storey and his people. I will warn you there is a twist at the end that will in fact leave you wanting more. I think the ending of this book is fantastic (Nope I am not going to tell you what it is that would ruin the fun.). I will be eagerly awaiting the next book in this wonderful new series by Dale Mayer. This story is part of the Young Adult genre but I would definitely recommend it for readers of any age that enjoy a fast paced, well written multi-dimensional adventure.

Dangerous Designs is a cute read. Dale Mayer's has written an amazing second dimension with an evil third. Mayer brings high-tech gadgets and evil monster into this story with Storey and Eric. I really enjoyed the characters and the storyline. The only problem I had was with Storey's character. No matter how I tried, I couldn't envision her as seventeen. I kept seeing her as fourteen, she just acted too immature for seventeen. But besides That one little problem Storey was great everywhere else. Storey is an artist and she loves to draw, but when she finds a pencil which is really a stylus from another dimension, it becomes soulbound with Storey and her drawing becomes a portal to another dimension. Eric has been sent to get the stylus back before Storey causes some serious problems between the two dimensions. Before Eric can get the stylus from Storey, she opens up a third portal, one that has been locked for centuries. Eric then has to protect Storey from the councilman of his world, and Storey and Eric must try to save both their worlds. I really liked Eric. I connected with right away, probably because I felt sorry for the poor guy. Eric put up with Storey's smart-ass ways and rude sarcasm and still fell in love with her. So yes, Eric had my sympathy. Dangerous Designs is a fantastic adventure with lots of fun and a cute romance. I recommend as a great read.

So descriptive and entertaining. I love it so much and have read it about a million times. An amazing cliff-hanger and made me get the next book. Dale Mayer has amazing imagination with characters and his books are amazing. He inspires me so much. So many adventures with Eric. There is just the right amount of romance that there needs to be. Can't wait to get the third book and hopefully if there is a fourth, the fourth book of the dangerous designs series. A total must read book!

Rating: * * * * Dangerous Designs told the story of Storey Dalton and how when she comes across a pencil that turns out to be a stylus that has immense power. Power that can be catastrophic if in the hands of the wrong person, or being. Storey’s drawing are drawing themselves she wonders if her pencil is actually alive. Then Eric comes into the story and Storey gets suspicious when he happens to always be around in just the right moment and seems to know more than her. The stylus is actually soul bounded and is using Storey to get back home. I thought that Storey was a good character. She was head strong and smart, which are qualities I like in characters and can appreciate. I liked how she was self dependent and always tried to do the right thing even when everyone was telling her to give up. I t was easy to connect with her and sympathize with her life and the decisions she has to make. Eric was a good character too. Reading parts of the book from his perspective gave an interesting view on his people’s belief and how his opinions change. I liked how he could stand up for his beliefs and accept a new reality. I thought that the plot line was interesting. In the beginning I didn’t feel like the story was realistic enough and have enough depth, but as the book continued I got more interested in the plot. I liked the cliffhanger at the end and I can’t wait to see how the next book will pan out.

Dale Mayer's first foray into YA fantasy is an exciting blend of adventure, suspense and a dash of humor. Storey Dalton is a teen who thinks nothing is right in her world. That is, until she meets Eric, a "Ranger" from another dimension. Suddenly, she discovers there's much more than two dimensions to her drawings and much more than three dimensions to her world. Storey relies on her skill, talent and courageously helps the people of Eric's world. And the ending? Well...I won't spoil it for you, but it's gripping. Mayer's characters leap from the page to life much like Storey's drawings. I enjoyed their banter as they learned to trust each other on their adventure. A great read for anyone who's ever felt like s/he was a bit of an outsider in high school (or elsewhere). Looking forward to more of Mayer's books.

A talented artist, fifteen-year-old Storey Dalton, finds a magical pen and suddenly is thrust into the unexpected role as liaison to an alternate reality. She unknowingly opens a door unleashing confusion and terror.Eric Jordan is sent through the veil between the dimensions to retrieve the missing stylus that was left behind in error when a scientific team was forced to return in haste. Eric tries to befriend Storey but is puzzled because she seems impervious to his efforts to charm her. Storey and the pen have bonded, and she begins to do things that no one in his dimension thought was possible. As the narrative progresses, Eric and Storey face many adventures. The pair is forced to work together if either is to survive. Further, unless drastic measures are enacted, both their worlds may be overrun by hoards of hideous and vengeful creatures. There is something really special about Dale Mayer¿s stories, and this young adult fantasy adventure is no exception. The pacing kept me reading into the wee hours. Storey Dalton is a likeable girl with a strong sense of duty and loyalty that I admire. Eric Jordan becomes her stalwart companion and protector even though doing so further alienates him from his father, forcing him to make incredibly difficult choices. The fast pace, often amusing dialogue between the protagonists and the well-rounded cast of secondary characters make this a rollicking start to what is sure to be an exceptional new series. My only complaint is that the book ended with a cliff-hanger, and I am left dangling until the next installment. Laurie-JReviewer for Coffee Time Romance & More

I loved everything about this book. The author kept you entertained the entire time. The whole concept of the book was great! You could only imagine what if different dimensions really did exist?

The book ends in a cliff hanger, it's about 456ish pages. Overall 3.5, as an adult reader it could be a bit predictable, but I think younger readers will really enjoy it.***spoiler the thing I didn't understand was how the council man aka Eric 'so dad got the stylus away from her, let alone get the right one when she had made a copy.

Dangerous Designs is a fantastic read! I read 3-4 books a week and VERY rarely do I feel a book has earned a 5 star rating. Dangerous Designs deserves all 5 stars. Great story and character development. I can't wait to read the next book in the series! (Note to the author: PLEASE make Deadly Designs (the second book in the series) available in an ebook format! Thanks, T)
