This colorful adventure takes place on an island in Maine. Here on the island, everybody has a nickname and the mudflats are frequented by some shady characters who do more than dig clams.
Dogtooth Violet is a young clam digger in her twenties who lives with her niece and nephew in a ramshackle paradise on a beautiful cove. Her sister makes their lives miserable and threatens to sell the family homestead out from under them. Dogtooth Violet lacks the where-with-all to do much of anything about it, but she tries.
One day while digging clams she meets a man on a yacht who changes everything. He loves clams and he falls in love with Dogtooth Violet. Mud over matter.

About the Author

My writing is a verbal manifestation of my music, painting, sculpture and poetry. These are different currencies in my creative world. I may in fact reside in Lalaland. Yes I do.

At a young age I wrote poetry and humorous short stories. I credit Anton Chekhov for influencing me to write in a concise brief style. Irony is my friend.

When I was young I drove a cab in Manhattan, then I worked on Wall Street for Loeb Rhoades, a prominent stock brokerage. This was my big corporate experience.

In 1968 I was an infantry man in the 198th. Light Infantry Brigade stationed in Vietnam. After fighting for seven months I formed a rock band and entertained the troops for six months.

Lobster pound keeper and lobster man on Penobscot Bay in Maine.

Captain of sardine boats. Mississippi River boatman on the largest towboats on the river.

Started winery and vineyard in Maine called CELLARDOOR WINERY.

Started Bed & Breakfast in Rockland Maine called the OLD GRANITE INN.

Made flame-cut steel sculpture and exhibited in galleries around New England. Two of my works reside in the collection of author Stephen King.

Oil and watercolor painter.

Shipwright specializing in fine woodwork on many vessels here and in Italy.

Now I write stories. I've personally done the research. It's wonderful to create imaginary worlds that are based on reality. Could these stories be true? They are to me!
