Divided into a disc containing every surviving master acetate Wynonie Harris recorded for King and a disc of unreleased alternate tracks, Ace's Don't You Want to Rock? The King & Deluxe Acetate Series
is a pure pleasure. The 23 tracks on the first disc, all recorded between 1947 and 1950, are remastered so they're clear and full, but the real treat is hearing the 25 tracks on the second, where Harris and his band jump and swing with abandon. Sometimes the audio quality is a little shaky but the performances never are; they're as robust and fun as what made it to wax. Highlights included the generically titled but distinctive-sounding "Wynonie's Unissued Blues," a couple of bites at "Good Rockin' Tonight," and the hopping "I Want My Fanny Brown."
