Overview

Drained, book one in the Agent Hank Rawlings Series of FBI Thrillers

A known serial killer is once again taking lives in Chicago. Bodies drained of blood are being strewn across the city.

For former Tampa homicide sergeant, Hank Rawlings, tracking down the man responsible for the killings becomes his first assignment at his new position, agent in the FBI's homicide division of the serial crimes unit.

Almost before the ink dries on the new job’s acceptance papers, Hank finds himself in Chicago, knee-deep in an investigation with a mounting body count.

While every lead brings him and his partner closer to the killer, the one that puts them directly in front of him threatens them most.

Im all for getting into the environment, but all the detail actually took away from the story. Ie...I put my blue bic pen in my left front pocket, my notepad in my right front pocket, slung my gray jacket over my right shoulder and picked up my black laptop bag in my left hand as we walked through the wooden door. Geesh couldnt read anymore. Just wait until you get to the house with the arched doorway a window on each side with six more windows in the front outlined by blue faux shutters all topped with a steeply inclined roof made out of cedar panels. All oulined by a flowerbed containing 2 geraniums 3 daffodils and a marigold. Omg

This just didn't do it for me. Biggest pet peeve: about a 180 pages and someone "thumbed“ a button or through pages at least 18 times. (I counted.) Characters were summed up in an introductory paragraph including odd dress combinations rather than discovering a character throughout the interaction. Almost but just not quite there in delivery.

Good read for free. Will consider more from this series.

Believable characters in a scary setting. My kind of book. Lots of depth without too much tedium .

Descriptive detail given to enhance a story is welcome. Constant, microscopically detailed, passages of it grows tiresome very quickly! For example, you may use many different adverbs and verbs to describe how someone walks. For example, someone may 'strut proudly' or 'creep cautiously'. I don't need to be told a character 1st advances their left foot forward about 14 inches and then puts their right foot about 14 inches ahead of their left foot and then puts their left foot about 14 inches ahead of their right foot 20 times per foot until they reach the 8 foot high and 3 foot wide arched doorway leading into the room with a floor decorated with tile with a 5 inch blue square next to a 5 inch white square next to another 5 inch blue square next to... Annoyed yet? This book felt this tedious after just the 1st 20 pages!

The book had a good story but was drawn out. It took me awhile to get into it

Far, far too many details. Every move and most thoughts are noted.

Well. This story was short but ok. Moat of the details were not needed but I guess overall it was written pretty good. Take out some details, ok lots of details, add some more danger and maybe a little more romantic or smarta**ery and youd have yourself an excellent read.

So this very short book could have been done in maybe 50 pages , way to much nonsence to fill the page. Would of been okay if you got 3 books for 1.00 to pass a few hours. Dont recomend if your like me and spend lots of time and money on books

The story keeps you on your toes. But it is very tedious. I also did not like the lead character referred to as 'I' so much in the story.

This book left a lot to be desired. It felt like it was written by a very early teen that would not know what a well written book was. No depth, no description. Not even enough good dialogue. Won't be reading any more from this author.

I liked the book, good story fast moving, was a little over detailed, but my main issue was I don't like short books, however since this was free I probably should not complain but I likely would not pay for one.

I liked the plot and the characters but sometimes the detailed descriptions seemed a bit tedious. Of course, this may be how an FBI agent sees his surroundings.

Too many details of non important characters but the story was interesting.

Good story, and interesting characters. Would read all of his books if they were free! My only complaint was his constant usage of "he thumbed the button"! Way too many times.
