Thirteen-year-old Jenna (Shana Dowdeswell) has had enough with the trials of adolescence. In addition to being saddled with a devoted-but-nerdy best friend, Matt (Sean Marquette), she falls victim to one of the dangers of playing Seven Minutes in Heaven with the coolest kids in school: being stranded without a willing make-out partner. Humiliated, Jenna buries herself in the aforementioned make-out closet, wishing she could skip the whole adolescence bit and move straight into adulthood, and miraculously wakes up just weeks away from her 30th birthday. Of course, a lot has changed since going to bed the night before, not the least of which being an impressive set of womanly curves. The new, older Jenna (Jennifer Garner) is a successful magazine editor with friends in high places and a lion's share of potential suitors -- including a hockey-playing boyfriend and a swarthy married man. The problem is that her mind hasn't matured with her body; Jenna not only finds living on her own more terrifying than cool, but is quick to dismiss any male over the age of 14 as "gross." Half excited, half mortified, Jenna seeks out Matt (Mark Ruffalo), whom she learns she had spurned as a teenager in an effort to join the popular crowd. Gary Winick directed the film, from a script by Josh Goldsmith and Cathy Yuspa; Gina Matthews produced. Choreographer Michael Peters -- who died in 1994 -- received posthumous credit, as his choreography from the Michael Jackson Thriller video is used in one scene. ~ Tracie Cooper

The story line was predictable and sort of cliche, but I really enjoyed the movie. It's cute, funny and romantic- perfect "girls night" movie.

This is a good movie. I love how it has the main character going from her 13th birthday to being a thirty year old! It has funny parts with a predictable yet cute ending.

This movie is one of my all-time favorites! When I think that life is too difficult I watch this movie. It is a movie for both the young and the old. If they had an award for the cutest and most inspiring movie it would be this one! Please see this movie if you have not.

In the movie a thirteen year old girl wakes up to find that she has suddenly turned thirty. She realizes that she has completely missed out on the past seventeen years of her life. In the meantime friendships have been made and broken, relationships strained and a personality has developed which her thirteen year old self cannot relate to. In the movie all this happens through magic or in a kind of dream situation. But haven't a number of suddenly realised that we have passed through life and actually missed out on so much? That we have grown into these people that our own past selves wouldn't recognize? While making you think of these things, this movie gives the viewer a wholesome serving of fun, , humour, romance and escapism. It takes you on a trip in time and the best thing is is that time is reversible so that past mistakes can be attended to. The Movies is sweet with a touching romance. It shows how choices once made can change and or set the path of you life. It is a look into who are you real friends and what is really worth living for. It is sure to lift up your spirits on any day. Even when you are at your most frustrated. Young teens as well as older people can enjoy it. And even you macho husband/boyfriend cannot deny that there is some charm in it.A great movie to add to your collection

This was one of the best movies I have ever seen. I love Jennifer Garner. I think she's a great actress, and I don't think anyone else could've played this part in this movie but her. This was an inspiring movie and everyone should see it!! Wonderful acting. A MUST SEE!!!

This movie is pure good-hearted fun. Jennifer Garner is totally convincing as a 14 year old trapped in a 30 year old body. Her wide-eyed exuberance is contagious! You'll find yourself cheering her on as she dives into her 'new life'. There are some great 80's moments for those of us old enough to remember that decade. Mark Ruffalo shines in his role as well. Anyone looking for a fun, sweet movie should give this one a chance. You won't be disappointed.

jennifer garner does a fantastice job as jenna. i really love how she is put into adult situations and how she responds to them. i love the thriller dance scene, and how richard (her boss) moonwalks. mark ruffalo is also great as matt, and the younger actors who play young jenna, matt and tom-tom truly fit their part. even before i saw it, i knew i had to add it to my dvd collection!

13 going on 30 has to be about the most underrated movie in hollywood history. it is such an amazingly sweet, wholesome movie that leaves one feeling good about life and about people. the values it teaches are amazingly sound, moral ones, but done in such an endearing manner. any man that does not fall in love with jennifer garner in this movie must have ice water in their veins, and even the main guy is such a kind, considerate, true gentleman. this movie should be shown to as many people as possible.

This movie is a great movie to watch with your Mom. It's funny too. I liked this movie because it shows you two different times in the girl's life.

This movie is beyond good. Jennifer Garner and Mark Ruffalo both are wonderful in this movie, and the chemistry between the two is brilliant. The plot is cute, the acting is top-notch, and the outfits Jennifer has are pretty cute, too. A must see.

Coming from a 13 year olds point of view, i think this movie was awesome. It really puts into perspective what really goes through our heads, and helps us to see that we should enjoy our youth while we still can. The characters were extremely well portrayed, and the movie had an excellent plot line. The music was also wonderful and fit every mood for every scene perfectly.

This is a great movie to watch for a girls night! When I saw it in the theatres, I'm not sure who laughed the most, the 20-30 somethings or the 13 year olds. It was definitely a pleasant reminder of dreams and wishes and sometimes getting exactly what you asked for and finding out you didn't really want it. I'm not sure how a boyfriend or husband would like the movie, but I loved it for a movie to relax and just enjoy.

I love this movie! Jennifer Garner and Mark Ruffalo are great together. I love the ending. Especially the bedroom scene when Matt is getting ready to get married. Shows each of us 'be careful what you wish for, it might just come true' SOMEONE GET ME A FLUFFY PILLOW!!!!
