As children, my sisters and brother sang and recited these wonderful melodies and sketches. It is exceptional childrens' entertainment with powerful messages. I only hope that it will touch the lives of more children in the present and future--as it did for my siblings and myself!!!

I watched this to DEATH as a child, I had to go to our local library and check out a tape, and watch it in this room where they had TV's with headphones. It brings back a lot of fabulous memories :) Can't wait to get the DVD, which I just ordered!

I'm a single, urban uncle of four children living in the suburban midwest. I've given these kids some outstanding gifts over the years, but I think that purchasing 'Free to Be ... You and Me' for them was one of the best ever. It's funny and bright (the baby puppets were a favorite of Rachael, the oldest), but more important: it's IMPORTANT. A generation has gone by, and we still have so much to learn about diversity, gender roles (Atalanta, Ladies First, Boy Meets Girl), and self-esteem (When We Grow Up). My only quibble is that the DVD doesn't include animated bits to go along with every song on the 'Free to Be' CD, specifically Carol Channing's hilarious 'Housework.'

The other day I happened to be humming one of the songs from 'Free to be You and Me' and it took me back to my childhood. I can remember sitting in the gymnasium of grade school on days that were to cold to go outside, and how we so enjoyed watching 'Free to be You and Me'. Now with two kids of my own, I thought how wonderful it would be if the movie was available to purchase for my children! I am so overjoyed because this is movie that the whole family can watch over and over!!
