Overview

My Big Fat Greek Wedding: the little film that could. Everyone by now knows the story of this five-million-dollar film that went on to gross well over 200 million dollars. That being the case, why aren't we seeing a bigger release for this DVD? Not that it's a bad disc, it really isn't. It just seems there's so much more that could have been done for such a significant release. The image, which HBO has wisely included both 1.85:1 anamorphic and full-frame transfers, is a fairly solid presentation. Colors, while generally muted, come across nicely, while the darker scenes are dense and don't show any signs of breakdown. Skin tones are very warm, a real plus for this film. The sound, a 5.1 Dolby Digital track, is certainly adequate for this small romantic comedy. In other words, it's not going to test your sound system in any way. Still, the auditory elements are nicely translated to home video, with clear dialogue and a very pleasing quality. What is lacking with this title are a significant number of supplemental features. Other than some decent biographies of the cast is a commentary track from stars Nia Vardalos, John Corbett, and director Joel Zwick. This track is often "matter of fact," but has enough humor and anecdotes to keep it moving along. Vardalos and Zwick contribute more than Corbett, but each has plenty to say about their experiences. People tend to love or hate this film. Those that hate it will steer clear of it, while those that loved it will now have the ability to watch it over and over and over.

My Big Fat Greek Wedding is honestly the most recommended movie I've ever seen in my life. It's filled with the right humor at the right time. When I went to see a the theater I asked an employee- ''How long has this movie been out for''? She said ''EIGHT months''! I haven't heard of a movie that ran longer than that. If you have well lets hear about it.

I enjoyed it very much. It was funny and very touching at some points. I recommend it to many of my friends and people who never seen it because it is funny and if you are the type to laugh at anything this one movie makes sense to laugh about and relate to most characters.

We live near Tarpon Springs, FL - a true Greek community - and found this film hilarious and loving at the same time - all generations loved it and it's fun to watch a movie together and not feel ''awkward'' at any time.

It's hard to find romantic comedies that are enjoyable and don't have depressing endings. It seems too many movies are going for that "realistic" feel, and so they don't have happy endings. Well, I don't mean to spoil it for you, but there's a good ending to this movie. Some things may seem a little cliche, and they's becuause they probably are. But if it is, it's definately one of the best cliche movies you'll ever see. It's cute, romantic, and it's the kind of movie you buy because you know you will watch it more than just one time. I also like it, because kind of like Spanglish, it shows how people with different ethnic backgrounds learn to compromise their traditional culture with modern American culture. I also really like Toula's character - it shows how confidence goes a long way in making you look and feel beautiful. Ian is such a nice guy, you can't help but like his character. Watch this movie!!

If laughter is the best medicine then this movie is percription strength. I can't remember the last time I laughed out loud in the theatre. Now I can do it in my own home. I'm stoked.

It's one of the greatest movies I've ever seen not because of the performance or acting but because of its truth. I'm Ukrainian and I see my family in it. Some of my friends are Georgian and they see theirs families in their. Really, anybody from the eastern, southern or central Europe feels like it's movie about them.

If you are looking for a movie to entertain you, make you feel good when it is over and make you stomp you feet as you laugh, this is the movie to see. I can hardly wait for it to come out on DVD. This will be a movie our family will watch over and over again for years to come. You catch something each time you see it that you hadn't caught previously. Go, get popcorn, soda and enjoy it.

If you are from a big family or you've ever been around one, you'll love this movie. If you are neither one, this movie will make you wish you were. It's funny, it's heartwarming, it's touching and it's FUNNY. The last time I saw a movie that was this good was Fried Green Tomatoes. This is your mother speaking. Go. Laugh. Enjoy. It's good for you.

This is without a doubt the funniest movie ever, and I am a big comedy buff.

I loved this movie. I laughed so hard, many of the people reminded me of my own sisters. I loved the fact that there wasn't any violence and the language wasn't too bad, although to me it could still have left out some of the words that were used. I bought the DVD from Barnes and Noble, can't wait to get it. If you have not seen this movie, buy it, you won't be disappointed. We all need to laugh, helps to lower your BP.

From the beginning to the end, this film exhibited behide the back spoof of the most hilarious minupulation of one shy individual and a guy who fell into a relationship, with the Greek family for support!!

This is the best movie I've seen in many years. Sometimes, movies hit close to home..this definately did...however, you don't need to be Greek to enjoy it. I've seen it 5 times in the theater - and never get sick of it. I've taken all my ''non-Greek'' friends to see it - and they left the theater laughing hysterically. I recommend you see this movie if you haven't already.

There aren't many movies that can make me laught out loud. I can only count a few on my hand in all my 30 years of living. For that matter, there isn't much these days that can make me laugh outloud. Except the book, The Little Guide To Happiness. That book was hilarious and I didn't even expect it to be because it was a self help book. At any rate, I digress. I highly recommend this movie. After all, Laughter is the best medicine.

This movie was advertised so little, it was out several months before I ever heard about it. It's the funniest, happiest, movie and even made me shed a couple of tears!! The characters are believable and hysterically written! Buy this movie - you'll love it!
