One couldn't ask for a more spectacular series on the history of New York. Serious scholarship, gorgeous to watch, wonderful music. Much appreciated.

I am thoroughly enjoying this series. As of this writing, I have finished viewing disks one through five. I am awed at the detail that Ric Burns went to in putting this documentary together. One feels the passion, the good times and the bad in New York City's history. It has been wonderful watching the history unfold from the time of the first Dutch ship coming ashore right through to the present. If you care about American history, you definitely want to see this exceptional piece of work.

Without a doubt the best series I have ever seen on any subject. The original footage, pictures and pathos are extraordinary. I learned so many new facts about NYC. It was so educational. Also drop dead gorgeous music throughtout makes the series even more enticing. Do not miss this series!!!!!

An informattive, entertaining, and inspiring history of the worlds greatest city. The final chapter dealing with 9/11 brought back the horror and sadness, of this terrible tragedy while celebrating all the courage, dedication and love that emerged from it. I cried!

New York is a beautiful and inspirational piece of art about the history of the greatest city of our time. Spectacularly crafted and amazingly touching, you will get to know the most complex and fascinating city through the words of great historians, poets and intellectuals along with amazing film footage that come together to create one of the best documentaries I have ever had a pleasure to view. Purchase this program.
