Overview

Sesame Street: Elmo Visits the Firehouse, the latest video release from the fuzzy red Muppet, has been released on DVD is a bare-bones presentation. As one might expect, Sesame Street: Elmo Visits the Firehouse has been transferred to DVD in full-frame format at the traditional 1.33:1 aspect ratio. The disc features an English-language audio track with no other language options, while the disc is closed-captioned, there are no optional subtitles. The disc's only extra is an additional chapter of fire safety tips. In short, a rather basic package, but well-presented, and given how often may children's videos get played in a household, the less-fragile nature of the DVD is doubtless advantage enough to make it a more appealing purchase than the VHS version.

Our 2 yr old son loves Elmo and firefighters so this was a no brainer. There is lots to entertain and use as jumping off points for discussion, although he was nervous at first about the openning scenes where Elmo is frightened by the fire at Hoopers and doesn't want to go back inside for lunch. This passed when we had watched the show together a few times and he realized everything would be ok in the end. This was an easier watch for his age than the Elmo Visits the Doctor, which is still a bit over his head. Elmo's Happy Holidays was spot on this last holiday season with him and our 4.5 year old and it covers several holiday traditions, not just Christmas.
