Director Dominic Sena follows up his stylish action film Gone in 60 Seconds (2000) with this high-tech thriller. John Travolta stars as Gabriel Shear, a charismatic spy who plots to steal a multi-billion-dollar fortune in illegal government funds. In order to make his scheme work, however, Gabriel needs some help from a computer hacker, which is where Stanley Jobson (Hugh Jackman) comes in. Stanley has been paroled from prison after serving a lengthy sentence for penetrating the FBI's cyber-surveillance operations. Issued a restraining order that keeps him away from computers and living penniless in a trailer park, Stanley wants only to be reunited with his daughter Holly, who's in the custody of his ex-wife, now remarried to a pornographer. Gabriel and his partner Ginger (Halle Berry) offer Stanley the chance to get his child back in exchange for his help, but the hacker soon realizes he's a pawn in a larger operation than the high-tech bank heist he thought he was perpetrating. In the meantime, a dedicated federal agent (Don Cheadle), the same man who once arrested Stanley, is trying to expose Gabriel's operation. Swordfish also stars Sam Shepard and Zach Grenier.

Look out for this one kids - the group in this movie make the townspeople of Mayberry look like a Think Tank crew...a couple of words for the ''techinal advisor'' regarding computers: buffer overflow....Jackman passes, John bores and Halle is WAY over hyped - we get it, you have breasts....now get dressed....ludicrous story, predictable as they get endings and the Euro-trash villians are becoming as cliched as hookers with hearts of gold and womanizers who are really just broken-hearted nice guys....password: stupid.

A wildly improbable but fast-moving high-tech thriller, Playing a rogue CIA operative prosecuting his own private war against international terrorists, Travolta gets most of the movie¿s lines and takes the scene whenever he can. But Hugh Jackman very nearly steals the film as the brilliant computer hacker who reluctantly helps mobilize a multibillion-dollar scheme, the funds from which are needed to finance Travolta¿s secret campaign. Halle Berry is a silky seductress who could be either one of Travolta¿s most trusted assistants or (as she tells Jackman) a Treasury agent undercover to expose him.Later on in the movie the director puts on an exquisuite bus and helecopter sequence. This movie will leave you mind boggled and blow your mind!! Ebert and roper both gave this film 2 thumbs up and I give it 5 stars. WOW!!!

Best terrorist movie yet. The government would do well to learn from this movie. If America had extreme nationalist to protect our country, the Al Quada would have never dared to attack.

It has been said that you can't judge a book by it's cover. I say you can't judge a movie by it's name. This movie has been out awhile, but the name did not intrique me. Upon learning that it starred John Travolta, Hugh Jackman, Halle Berry and Don Cheadle...I figured it was worth watching. This high-tech thriller kept me in suspense the entire time. Jackman is a top notch computer hacker, Berry's character is very mysterious, Cheadle is law enforcement and Travolta is the mastermind behind stealing millions from a government slush fund named Swordfish. If you want suspense and excitement, then this is for you.
