An all-star cast of action-movie icons headline Sylvester Stallone's explosive action thriller about a group of hard-nosed mercenaries who are double-crossed during a treacherous mission. Approached by the shadowy Church (Bruce Willis) to overthrow tyrannical South American dictator General Gaza (David Zayas) and restore order to the troubled island country of Vilena, stoic soldier of fortune Barney Ross (Stallone) rounds up an unstoppable team that includes former SAS soldier and blade specialist Lee Christmas (Jason Statham); martial arts expert Yin (Jet Li); trigger-happy Hale Caesar (Terry Crews); and cerebral demolitions expert Toll Road (Randy Couture). Traveling to Vilena on a reconnaissance mission with his old pal Christmas, Barney meets their local contact, a cagey guerrilla fighter named Sandra (Giselle Itie), and together the trio scopes out the landscape.. It isn't long before Barney and Christmas have discovered that their actual target is not General Gaza but James Monroe (Eric Roberts), a former CIA operative who has recently gone rogue. Monroe won't be easy to get to either, because his hulking bodyguard Paine (Steve Austin) is a force to be reckoned with. When their mission is compromised, Barney and Christmas are forced to flee, leaving Sandra behind to face almost certain death. But Barney isn't the kind of soldier to abandon a mission, or a hostage, and now in order to get the job done he'll need the help of his old crew.

I thoroughly enjoyed this film and I was happy to see Arnold Schwarzenegger back where he belongs: In film. Sylvester Stalone looked pretty fit for a guy who is in his sixties. I liked the fact that all of the major action stars in modern film were in this movie from Jason Stathom, Bruce Willis, Terry Crews, Jet Li, and Mickey Rourke. All of these men made a great combination for a movie and I hope they get together again for another film. Hopefully, Arnold will finally be out of office by then. Overall, this movie not only had a great set of actors, but it also had great fight scenes and explosive action sequences that kept me at the edge of my seat throughout the entire movie. If they make a sequel, I am definitely seeing it.

Movie was really well put together as action movies go, however they have little plot and a lot of standard action sequences. I do recommend if you are at all a fan of any of these action stars.

The Expendables puts together a cast of some legendary 80's and 90's action stars. Unlike some of the better action-packed movies of the past, this film lacked a good story. With the exception of a ninety second, mid-movie scene by Mickey Rourke, which felt Academy Award quality, the movie feels similar to an old WWF script laced with explosions and gunfire. If you're looking for good story, you won't find it here. If you just want lots of action, you're in for a treat.

This does have its moments. Fight scenes are kind of good too.

This movie is by far one of the best action movies I've seen in a while! The characters were awesome and the action sequences were pretty cool...most especially the very last one! Doesn't surprise me that it was so bad@$$, being that Sylvester Stallone directed and starred in it. He has had enough experience with action movies to know how to make a good one. If you want a movie with substance...this is not the movie for you. It has some...but not a ton. Now...if you're looking for a man movie with a lot of excellent, no holds barred, guns blazing, explosive action...this, my friend, is the movie for you! It's one of those type of movies that progresses, and there is good action thrown in gradually throughout the course of the movie, and then at the very end is the absolute best action of the best in a movie of this particular kind that I have seen. Blew me away! If you're out for a good action thrill...this movie is most definitely worth while! Watch it! A good blue-ray worthy purchase if you ask me.
