All I can say is, wow! This book is the perfect marriage of a spiritual cheerleader and a motivational speaker on speed dial. Victoria does an amazing job of encouraging the reader of their worth in Christ. She has a deep desire for the reader to understand just how skilled and exceptional they are. She gives examples from Scripture of people who did not believe in who they were created to be, but spent time with God and He showed them what they were going to be. One of my favorite quotes is: “If we are going to accomplish our dreams and reach the fullness of our destiny, we must press past our excuses and put aside the no, grab hold of our yes, and take bold steps of faith“-pg 19. I recommend this book to any woman who has any doubt in their calling or the abilities and gifts that God has blessed them with.
Encouraging and inspiring are two words that describe this book perfectly. This is the first book I’ve read by Victoria Osteen, although I have heard her speak and admire the Osteen family’s ministry. Exceptional You reveals how we can see ourselves through God’s eyes, rather than our own. We are each one of God’s masterpieces and He sees us as much more than ordinary. He knows our strengths, talents, and gifts, and wants us to use them to the best of our abilities. I love Victoria’s positive, conversational tone. She presents 7 ways we can live exceptionally, in practical and authentic ways. The book is neatly organized with two chapters devoted to each of the seven sections. A bonus segment at the end of each chapter titled, Exceptional Thoughts, is one of my favorite features. These segments provide bullet point ideas on how to apply what is stressed in the chapter. Firmly rooted in biblical principles, Exceptional You serves as an encourager—a cheerleader of sorts—empowering us to live an intentional and exceptional life. #ExceptionalYou Author: Victoria Osteen Publisher: FaithWords Pages: 240 First Line (Introduction): When something is exceptional, it means that it is better than good; it is outstanding. This book is a wonderful reminder of who God has created us to be. It is up to us to step into that calling but he desires it for us. Victoria is an encourager through and through. You will read this book and feel uplifted and motivated to take the day for force and press into our Savior who want good things for His children. A copy of this book was given to me through Netgalley.com. All opinions are my own.
I loved this book. It was easy to read, can easily be used as part of daily devotional reading. As you read it, you gain strength of who you are inside. It definitely provides a ‘feel good’ vibe. Whether you are having a good or bad day, you feel strengthened and victorious with a sense of: I can do anything; I can get through anything. It also inspires one to follow those urgings of things God has put on your heart or life. The visuals created with the stories are impactful. I am both impressed and amazed at the fullness they give to the message delivered, supported by Biblical verses. Some chapters and stories are motivational, some bring peace, but all bring encouragement and desire to bring fullness to our lives and the lives of those around us. The “exceptional thoughts” at the end of each section are nice summaries and affirmations of the topic just covered. The positive messages throughout are easy to grasp and incorporate into daily life. The book is “exceptional”. I give it 5 stars.
It has been a long winter in many parts of the country. Where I live is no exception. At the same time, we have had some extra challenges in our family that have been discouraging at times. With everything combined, I was ready for something positive and encouraging to read. Exceptional You! by Victoria Osteen has been balm to my tired soul and it could be a blessing for you too. Exceptional You! has a subtitle of "7 Ways to Live Encouraged, Empowered, and Intentional." As you would expect this book is divided into an introduction with seven sections: Know That you are Chosen, Lift Up Your Eyes, Keep your Memory Box Full, Travel Light, Love Well, live in the Now and Power Up. Each section has two chapters detailing how to live in that special way. Each chapter also has a summary at the end with the main points of that chapter to easily refer back to, which I especially like. I found Exceptional You! to be full of practical and encouraging stories and advice on how to live a full life for Christ in our modern world. I can't say that these are all new ideas, but they are all good refreshers that we often forget and need to read now and again. I know they were good for me to read at this time when I was starting to get down from a lot of bad weather and some life challenges. I appreciated how Victoria shared some of the hard things she has gone through and how God has used those things to cause her to look to Him or to live differently. She also shares some uplifting stories. I especially liked her story about the silver box in chapter 5. She continually points readers to passages and verses in Scripture and reminds them that God is watching over them. I marked several passages to go back to and re-read when I think I need them. For me, this is a good book to keep in my library for those times I need to remember. I received this book from the publisher. I was not required to write a positive review. #sponsoredbyfaithwords
Pastor Victoria Osteen’s new book, ‘Exceptional You!’ is a remarkable, unique treasure to living whole and becoming an exceptional person. It is organized into seven sections with main ideas on exceptional living and two chapters per section that include references to the Bible and supporting, real-life examples. This is a unique book because it encourages you to live from a higher perspective, from a place of peace and rest, knowing that you are set apart for God, can have the right mindset, be intentional, and live the best life God intends for you to have.
I didn't really know what to expect from Victoria in regards to her book. My son received her set of children's books a few years ago and absolutely loved them. With the things I was going through, fears and bad memories that were plaguing me, and challenges that kept piling up, I was excited to see her book pop up, just out of mere curiosity. Just in reading the first chapter and focusing on implementing the end-of-chapter items..I felt like I was coming out of the funk I was in. There are some big things that I wasn't bold enough to strive for, but after reading her book and replaying those words in my mind- I know can make some exceptional things happen. The book is written in a comfortable, informal format. It's like reading a conversation, and it has a good flow to it.I thought that it would be a "women's" book, but it is suitable for men, women, teens- literally anyone that is open to being inspired and as the book says "fixing their crown". Great read, I recommend it.
From the moment I picked up this book, I knew I was in for a treat! The beautiful photo on the front exudes joy. Victoria Osteen gives a fresh perspective on how to deal with issues that we all face at various times. She uses stories from the Bible and her own personal stories to portray her message of perseverance through her encouragement. Her warmth with which she writes really draws you in and makes you feel as if you are having a conversation with a dear friend. This book flows so well and is therefore easy to read. I stayed engaged the entire time; finding myself smiling with delight as well as my eyes filling with tears at the heartfelt love and life lessons that she shares. I highly recommend this book for anyone needing some thought-provoking, practical advice that they can apply and for all of us who need to be reminded how valuable and precious we are to the Lord.
Exceptional You by Victoria Osteen is easily one of my favorite books of 2019. I love reading inspirational books, but this one resonated with me from beginning to end. Maybe it's because of the things I have been experiencing in my life lately that made me hold on tightly to Victoria's words of encouragement. The title implies that there are seven ways to live encouraged, empowered, and intentional, but I feel as though Victoria gives the readers more than seven ways to live your best life. The reason I feel as though she gives more than seven ways is each of the seven core principles is broken down with two main points. Let me not forget about the Exceptional Thoughts section!! The Exceptional Thoughts section opens up discussion amongst each other or yourself. I would recommend getting yourself a journal and write out how you can apply these principles to your life.Victoria Osteen also shares stories of people who are now living their exceptional life. That's one of the things I love about Victoria; she has the gift of storytelling. One of the stories she shared was a story of her friend that owns IT Cosmetics. It's always a fantastic thing to hear about the backstory of someone's success. It serves as a reminder that things don't ever happen overnight. We have to be persistent, faithful, and never give up on our dreams! God may not come when we want him to, but HE is still on time.I also recommend that everyone get themselves a Memory Box and hold on close to it. You will have to read the book to find out what I'm referring to, but I believe it's one of the most powerful thing you can do for yourself.I highly recommend you buy this book for yourself! It's time for us to start embracing what makes us Exceptional!! Reviewed by: Orsayor
This is one of my favorite books by far! It was so encouraging, inspiring, and refreshing to read. It changed my perspective of how I see life and how I see myself. Every time I read a new chapter in this book, it felt like God was speaking directly to me through these pages! He is definitely using Pastor Victoria's words to change people's lives for the best! There is so much encouragement and truth in this book and I pray that every person who reads it knows how much they are loved by God! I enjoyed every single part of this book, but I'd have to say chapter 3, "Set Your Eyes On The Promises" (in Section II: "Lift Up Your Eyes") is my favorite. Pastor Victoria speaks about taking your eyes off of the problem and putting your focus on GOD - He will take care of everything and get you to where you need to go. Beautiful days are coming! I recommend this book to everyone that wants to become a better person, love their life a little more, and see themselves the way God sees them. If you read this, you'll be SO glad you did! Have a blessed day!!
Exceptional You is a gentle stroll through the ways of God. It is a useful read for anyone, helping them realize that God created them for greatness. God loves and adores each one of us, and this book reminds us to see ourselves the way God sees us. Victoria shows us simple ways to stir up what’s inside us, embracing our gifts, and nurturing them each day. A must read for anyone who feels less than, or unsure of their “place”. God created each one, with a purpose, and Exceptional You will help bring out God’s best in you.
