***He wants a second chance. I want a divorce. To get what I want, I'll have to give him what he does.***

From New York Times & USA Today bestselling author, Nicole Williams:

The only benefit I want from my ex is a divorce.

We got married for all the wrong reasons. The one thing we got right was our separation. I should have known better than to think I could bet on forever with a guy like Canaan Ford. Everything about him screamed impermanent, from his wild eyes to his restless soul.

When I left him and the small town I'd spent my whole life in, I swore I'd never go back. Never only turned out to be five years. Canaan claims he's changed, but he hasn't--same knowing smile, same rough demeanor, same body crafted from sin and sinew. And yet, something is different. He thinks this is his chance for redemption. My disagreement comes in the form of divorce papers dropped in his lap. He refuses to sign them. Unless . . .

He wants a month to prove himself to me--that's his offer. One month to make me fall in love with him again and if I don't, he'll sign the papers. As much as I want to say no, I agree. I can suffer my ex for a short amount of time if that's what it takes to be free of him once and for all. I fell for him once; I won't make that same mistake twice.

He says we're not over. I say we were over before we got started. Only one of us can be right, and I can't let it be him.

Canaan and Maggie fell in love and married at a young age. When things got though Maggie ran away. When back home for her grandma's funeral she and Canaan reconnect and find their love again. Their story is full of love, loss , and dirty talking. Amazing read.

Ahh! What a perfect read! It was reminiscent of the movie Sweet Home Alabama. I adored that movie and I adored this book just as much, if not more! Welcome back home, the home she left when things just didn't go the way they should've. Married too young, with a husband who lost his way... She left, ran away, only to come back later when her grandmother passes away to find the boy she married has grown and matured into one hell of man. I couldn't put this book down!!!!! I've loved everything that Nicole Williams has published but this one definitely ran up towards the top of my favorites list for her work. It was such an emotional read. A story I wanted to keep reading on and on just to see what happens in their life after the story ended. Canaan and Maggie are precious. Yes, they had a rough start but, lord, he's trying his best to make amends and right all his wrongs. She's tough but absolutely in denial through most of the book. I wanted to reach in and smack her on more than one occasion. Great characters, emotional plot, twists that I loved. Romance for an age group that I just can't find often enough! I loved it! Overall, huge 5 stars. Nicole Williams continues to show me why she's one of my favorites! Cover: 5 Stars (woah...) Characters: 4.5 Stars Plot: 5 Stars Climax: 4.5 Stars Ending: 5 Stars!

I love Nicole Williams writing and Exes with Benefits was amazing. This is a story of second chances—of young love finding the right time to grow into that all encompassing love. This is a story of heartbreak, heartache, forgiveness, loyalty, devotion, and that love that is forever. Maggie leaves her husband Canaan Ford when she can’t watch him destroy himself any more, leaving her hometown to move to Chicago to start anew. Five years later, she is home to bury her beloved grandmother and armed with divorce papers to finally close that chapter of her life. Until she sees Canaan for the first time and he is dead set on getting his wife back because he is a changed man—for the better—and he has been waiting for her to return home for those five years to prove that he is worthy of her love. Unfortunately she doesn’t want him anymore (so she says) and he asks for a month to prove that he is different and if after that month, she can’t love him again, he will sign her divorce papers. I have to say that I rooted for them from the get go. I am a romantic at heart – how could I not! I wanted Canaan to win Maggie’s heart back in the worst way. Oh his romantic words, said with such feeling that I could feel it to the depths of my soul, to his smirks and his laughter that just touched my romantic side wanting him to get his girl. But he has his work cut out for him because she doesn’t trust him—doesn’t want to see that though they were young when they first fell in love that they could truly be meant to be. I devoured Exes with Benefits in a day and a half… I could not put it down nor did I want to. Nicole has a way of captivating readers with her stories and fans of this author both new and old will fall in love with these characters and their story. Closing this book with a smile on my face, I wanted an epilogue for the epilogue lol because of course I am selfish and wanted more… I have been feeling a little down lately so this book gave me something that I needed to make my heart happy—I can’t wait to see what she has in store for us readers next! xo

I really fell in love with Canaan and Maggie's story. Second chance romance is a favorite theme of mine, and this one was written so beautifully. Their young love goes bad, they go their separate ways, then have a reunion years down the road. It really is a perfect storyline, that pulled me in from the first page. There was so much hurt between Canaan and Maggie, that it made my heart clench at times. Yet, I felt such an incredibly strong bond still holding on for these two. They have sizzling chemistry, and the kind of heat that only true lovers can create. I really enjoyed the angst and indecision that brewed in this story. That feeling of wondering if they could possibly make things work or if it was time to let it go was a constant in my mind. The pages just flew by for me, which is a sign of a fantastic writer. There was a lot of fun and laughs within the story too, due to great characters all the way around. I definitely recommend that everyone check out Exes With Beneifts.

A second-chance love story full of hurt and heartfelt romance! Exes with Benefits was and eye-opening and unconventional novel. The title alone gives the reader an insight as to what the story is about. But it can also be deceiving, as it does not express everything that does happen in the book. As I began reading and was further invested in the story of these two characters, I couldn't help but see the book's similarities to the movie "Sweet Home Alabama". If that was the author's intention, I think she nailed this book out of the park! Although the movie has a sweet, sassy, and comedic undertone, Exes with Benefits conveys some quite opposite components in the storyline. And if you've read Nicole's previous book, Roommates with Benefits, you'll be quite surprised as well with the change of direction Exes with Benefits takes you. From the beginning, the reader is questioning the right and wrong choices the characters make. The story pulls you in conflicting, painful directions, and forces the reader to think with their heart more than with their head. Raw and overwhelming emotions are laid bare, the gut-wrenching actions taken are finally explained, and the outcome of tragic, young love is revealed. I really, REALLY enjoyed this book. And the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because I felt the ending was rushed and cut short. With the characters having such a long-standing history together, I was hoping for more of a stronger ending, to match the intense and emotionally-impacted story. But regardless of the ending, or the fact I could just be selfish and want more about the characters and their story, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this book to everyone. A poignant and emotionally driven story that defies expectations of what genuine and lasting love truly means!
