I used to love the Flower Fairies books when I was younger; my sister and I would pore over them, puzzling out the verses and trying to decide which flower fairy we would like to be. So when I stumbled on Flower Fairies of the Summer, I was delighted to discover that despite a rather fancy new cover, the inside was much as I remembered it. There are twenty-one poems, each paired with a corresponding picture. All but one of the pictures are colored, and along with the whimsical tone of the verses, the delicate, early 1900s-style art provides a gentle but realistic introduction to summer flora. These are wonderful gifts for the gardeners or new babies in your life.
