An all-new STANDALONE from New York Times bestselling author Julia Kent

It all started with the wrong Help Wanted ad. Of course it did.

I'm a professional fluffer. It's NOT what you think. I stage homes for a living. Real estate agents love me, and my work stands on its own merits.

Sigh. Get your mind out of the gutter. Go ahead. Laugh. I'll wait.

See? That's the problem. My career has used the term "fluffer" for decades. I didn't even know there was a more... lascivious definition of the term.

Until it was too late.

The ad for a "professional fluffer" on Craigslist seemed like divine intervention. My last unemployment check was in the bank. I was desperate. Rent was due. The ad said cash paid at the end of the day. The perfect job!

Staging homes means showing your best angle. The same principle applies in making a certain kind of movie. Turns out a "fluffer" doesn't arrange decorative pillows on a couch.

They arrange other soft, round-ish objects.

The job isn't hard. Er, I mean, it is — it's about being hard. Or, well... helping other people to be hard.

Oh, man...

And that's the other problem. A man. No, not one of the stars on the movie set. Will Lotham – my high school crush. The owner of the house where we're filming. Illegally. In a vacation rental.

By the time the cops show up, what I thought was just a great house staging gig turned into a nightmare involving pictures of me with an undressed star, Will rescuing me from an arrest, and a humiliating lesson in my own naivete.

My job turned out to be so much harder than I expected. But you know what's easier than I ever imagined?

Having all my dreams come true.

About the Author

New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Julia Kent writes romantic comedy with an edge. Since 2013, she has sold more than 2 million books, with 4 New York Times bestsellers and more than 19 appearances on the USA Today bestseller list. Her books have been translated into French and German, with more titles releasing in 2019.

From billionaires to BBWs to new adult rock stars, Julia finds a sensual, goofy joy in every contemporary romance she writes. Unlike Shannon from Shopping for a Billionaire, she did not meet her husband after dropping her phone in a men's room toilet (and he isn't a billionaire she met in a romantic comedy).

She lives in New England with her husband and three children where she is the only person in the household with the gene required to change empty toilet paper rolls.

Wow, what a great book! If I could give this book 10 stars I would. As with previous books I have read by Julia Kent, I was in stitches having laughed so much I cried. That’s right, not only laughing but snort laughing, totally unattractive I assure you. Julia Kent is one of my go to authors in the romantic comedy genre. There is just something about her style of writing that draws me in and I devour her books almost in one go. I absolutely loved the premise for Fluffy and could not volunteer fast enough to read and review. This was everything that I hoped it would be and so much more. I fell hard and fast for Will Lotham, he ticked all my boxes and was totally swoon worthy. I so felt for Mallory (Mal) after she made such an embarrassing mistake, particularly since Will was her high school crush. Although a hilarious read it is also a story of friends becoming lovers and the romance and love was just as epic as the humour. The secondary characters, particularly Mallory’s rather crazy friends and family were an absolute hoot. This is a gem of a book and in my humble opinion Ms.Kent has another winner on her hands.

Fluffy Book One. Mallory is on the hunt for a job because her bank balance is in the negatives, so when she finds a listing for a Fluffer, she jumps at the chance. She hasn't seen that term used for a house stager in awhile, but maybe they're just old school. When she shows up, she begins to work on the living room. However, after several weird interactions with her boss and the rest of the crew, she realizes this might not be the job she originally imagined. When her old high school flame, Will, crashes into the room threatening to have them all arrested, she knows her day has gotten even worse. After Spatula posts a photo of Mallory, Will and the actor from the set in a visually compromising position, Mal knows her life is over. If you're looking for a funny story with suggestive insinuations, childhood dreams and everlasting friends, this is the book for you! AudiobookObsession

This is one of those reads that is just an honestly good time. I don't know how many times my son gave me "the look" because I broke out in laughter. Mal is highly intelligent but a bit socially inept. Blessed with book smarts yet lacking in street smarts. For her, it is the everyday things that at times are a bit harder to comprehend. The innuendos, the facades.. why not just say what you mean and mean what you say? Like life hadn't given her enough hurdles to maneuver. Mal is not really comfortable outside of her box. She seems to prefer being the wallflower. Her straight forward interpretation of life leads to one comical event after another. Mal ends up reconnecting with her high school crush under the most embarrassing of circumstances. She was supposed to fluffing a home, something she is more than skilled at. Turns out her lack of slang knowledge may just put her in the pokey. Will was her high school fantasy. The popular jock who, back then, somehow balanced sexy and smart making it look easy. Having him suddenly appear back in her life is definitely messing with her feng shui. Torn between the need to eat and the ingrained instinct to retreat Mal finds herself in uncharted territory. Will, on the other hand, sees a second chance. A chance to grasp the one thing he let slip through his fingers. I really enjoyed how this played out. Lots of comedic relief blended with a very sweet journey of self-acceptance and understanding. Let us not overlook the dessert menu! Will is practically the perfect book boyfriend. He has his flaws but for me, they only made him more endearing. The storyline plays a bit into fantasy land but it worked well with the cast and their personalities. There were a few scenes that had my hackles up(mal's behavior at the reunion) and at times I wished I could deliver some attitude adjustments to some of the characters. But overall? A great read that had me laughing

Another super hilariously fun book. So many funny bits, talking about the search terms used to find out about what happened and see pictures on line. And then when the main character calls someone Hagrid's porn twin, I just about died laughing! Listening to this on my drive home from Branson and it made the drive fly by. I did get mad at the main character at one point when she was mad at her love interest for no reason, but as you've heard me say in past reviews, I know that is just how authors add the drama! So much I loved about this story, and let me tell you what, while it wasn't a cliffhanger per se for how this ended, it definitely left me needing book two, Perky.

Laugh Out Loud funny, which was a little embarrassing alone on a plane. But a great read, great characters, and I can’t wait for the next book!

Fluffy By Julia Kent is a Romantic Comedy that I listened to on audio narrated by Erin Mallon. If you have the chance I would recommend reading/listening to Little Miss Perfect first which is the prequel to Fluffy. It is not needed but I did find it helpful having Will and Mallory history. I really enjoyed this book. I don’t read a lot of Romantic Comedies and I am going to have to fix that after Little Miss Perfect and Fluffy. Julia does an amazing job making the characters very relatable. Erin did an amazing job narrating and using different voices for Will and Mallory. I can’t wait to read/listen to future projects by both of these amazing women. #AudiobookObessionReviwer #AudioBookObsession

I got this because of the reviews. I couldn't get past page 90. I wanted to read a contemporary romance that would make me laugh, but I found it was just beyond corny -- it's stupid.

A romcom that's a little dirty, a lot flirty, breakout funny, and just a great read! When Mallory Monahan answers the job ad for a professional fluffer; #1 she's desperate (she's to the point where she might have to move back in with her parents), #2 she's a professional stager (the job description was close, even if they called it something different), #3 did I mention she was desperate (the spam ads of marrying a Nigerian prince were beginning to look enticing). Keep your beverages set far away or you may be cleaning up your own spit takes. (Is that too punny when a fluffer job is involved?) Anyway, Fluffy is hilarious, so this really is a warning; read and drink at your own risk. When Mallory arrives at the job site and things go from desperate to...well let's just say she finally figures out what a professional fluffer does. Back in high school, she was humiliated when her car was decorated with the words "most likely to become a porn star", little did she realize the joke would actually come back to haunt her. To add to her humiliation, her high school crush, Will Lotham, arrives on set with the cops in tow. Could her life get any worse? With a ten year class reunion looming, no job, the possibility of moving back in with her parents, and the humiliation of answering a fluffer ad Mallory doesn't understand when Will seems to take an interest in her. Is it to complete her humiliation? Because he came in second best back in high school, is it revenge? Or could it be real interest?

Warning: Do not read while eating, drinking or in front of others. I laughed SO hard during this book, my cheeks still hurt! Such a hilarious tale of wrong person at the wrong place. Mallory is definitely a woman after my own heart. Her innocent take on the world leaves her in such an awkward situation, that even the aftermath is just as embarrassing. This was a delightful tale of coming into your own, while not making snap judgements about others. I loved all the characters and the storyline keeps you captivated til the last page.

JK always knocks it out of the park with her rom-coms but this one was something else. I mean when a book starts on a porn set by accident, the only place to go is up, right? Sometimes, but also sometimes not so much. This book had me dying laughing so often I had tears in my eyes. Mallory is so smart and witty. She literally has an answer for everything. Will always seemed perfect but really, he's just like everyone else. My favorite part about these two was watching them let go of all their misconceptions they had about each other since high school. I'd love to see some of these scenes from Will's POV and I can't wait for Perky's story!!

I love Will and Mal! Mal’s situation at the beginning was hilarious. Will and Mal have definite chemistry and their banter throughout the book is awesome. Even the side characters have you rolling in laughter. A book full of witty banter, hilarious situations, chemistry, friends, and love! Can’t wait for the rest of the series!

This story definitely put the comedy in Romantic Comedy! I was reading until WAY late last night and laughing hysterically out loud while in bed. The last time I've truly laughed like that has been a bit. Mallory is a lovable, book smart, naive goofball. I loved her character so much!! And she was so dead on. I could definitely see her as a slightly bigger, sweet but sassy, formerly bullied adult. I can definitely feel for her and her crush on Will. And seriously, she is so dang cute! Walking into a job as a "fluffer" not knowing that it's not what she expected. And Will, thank you for being the updated adorable Jake Ryan any Sixteen Candles fan was begging for. Although how he didn't know who John Hughes was, definitely is a strike against him. He is definitely the updated Jake Ryan for every girl who absolutely loved him and wanted one for her own. I can't wait for Perky's story!!

I have been reading Julia Kent for some time now, I have read every one of her books. This book was amazing I enjoyed it start to finish. There is so much humor and laughter in her books. I was trying to read the book at work but had to stop because I kept laughing too loud. This is a must read book, I hope she comes out with more books.

Fluffy is the perfect easy-going weekend read. It's lighthearted, sexy, and laugh out loud hilarious. Mallory is totally relatable, and Will is a complete sweetheart, so it's easy to root for this pair. The romance is a bit of a slow burn, but the story moves at a good pace with one crazy situation after another, so it feels like things happen faster than they do. I love that not only did I fall in love with the romantic couple, but the secondary characters are just as rich and interesting. This is a story that pulls a reader in and doesn't let go. One of those that you just want to dive into and stay there. We do get a nugget of lead in for whatever comes next for this crazy group of friends, and I can't wait to see where that goes. Until then. I'll be recommending Fluffy to anyone who enjoys a good RomCom.

It’s no secret that I’ve been a long-time fan of this author. No one does rom-com better than Julia Kent… no one. Fluffy is yet another example of her laugh-out-loud, yet sweetly sentimental writing style. This story will lighten your heart, while simultaneously squeezing it. This is a true second-chance love story, told with an irreverent wit guaranteed to ensure an almost complete inability to put this book down, once you’ve started reading. I know I didn’t… even when my body was begging me to sleep. Take that, body! Who’s the boss now, huh? Aaaanyway, this story is one with which so many women can relate… regardless of age. We all have that one crush from high school—that seemingly unattainable specimen of perfection—that haunted our dreams and tortured our hearts on a daily basis, as we stalkedwatched them in those hallowed halls of learning. What wouldn’t we give for a chance at real happiness with that person? We might even brave the hell of a high school reunion (shudders)… even if the object of our affection also played a starring role in the most embarrassing moment—to date, at least (Let’s be honest. This probably won’t be the last time we’re embarrassed on a grand scale)—of our lives, played out on social media for all eternity. What could go wrong? More importantly, what might go right? When it comes to this book, it all goes right. You honestly cannot go wrong this book. I would highly recommend it to anyone with a pulse… or without one. Hey, ghosts need good reading material too, right? *I was given an ARC of this book and voluntarily chose to review. All opinions are completely my own.

5 'QuirkyFun' stars. Fluffy by Julia Kent is the start of a new series of standalone books, this one feature Mallory Monahan and Will Lotham. Mal as she’s known, was the smart, nerdy girl in high school and Will the hot quarterback she crushed on since their first day of freshman year. Their lockers were next door to each other, but that’s as close as they got, right up until the last day. Mal thought Will was going to kiss her, instead her just trampled on her already bruised heart. Will left town for college and didn’t return for ten years. Too bad it was in time to meet Mal at the worst time in her life- ever! Mal thought Will wasn’t interested in her but she’s in for a surprise. This guy? Gosh, he was so sweet and kind, no bad bones in his body. And what a body he had. Sinfully sexy and hard as a rock. Mal had overcome her awkward shyness in the decade since she’d last laid eyes on Will, but he brought it all back. This was quite a slow burner of a story. The chemistry was strong, the banter was snarky and sexy. The build up beyond enticing. Their friends had just enough influence and book time to make them an interesting addition and want to know more. I am definitely looking forward to Perky and Skip’s story, coming soon… I hope!

Back in high school Mallory Monahan had a huge crush on Will Lotham now 10 years later she runs into him when she mistakenly takes a professional fluffer job (which thinks is a home staging job) she found on Craiglist. Boy do things go wrong! I couldn't put this book down and laughed out loud so many times! Get it and read it!!!

Tongue is firmly in cheek during the first portion of this story and had me equally cringing and chuckling over the situation Mallory got herself into due to her naivete. The developing relationship between Mallory and her old high school crush, Will was a bit of a slow burn with misunderstandings and parental interruptions contributing to Mallory’s internal self-doubts. I’m already looking forward to Perky’s (a good friend of Mallory’s) story next.

Loved this laugh out load, action packed and emotionally thrilling second chance at forever with your child hood crush.... This journey was so heartwarming, fun, exciting and nostalgic I could not help but fall in love with the town and all the interesting people. Will and Malory are an adorable couple, but the teaser at the end wow... So looking forward to Perkys story.

Fluffy is a new book in a new series by a favorite author of mine Julia Kent...with that said this book will make you laugh, sigh, have tears in your eyes along with shouting at your e-reader "no that did not just happen!" In this book we meet Mallory who is a fluffer for houses - she stages them for sale, makes them look beautiful and appealing! Mallory has recently lost her job as the company she worked for in her home town closed as the owners chose to retire which leads her to answer an add for a job as a "fluffer". She thinks this is perfect and replys, what do you know she gets the job, this is where the fun begins!!! Lets just say the job is not what she thought it was and we have police with threats of arrest!!! Here is where Will re-appears, her high school cruse and someone she has worked very hard to forget, he turns her world upside down bringing back everything she has tried to forget! He does the right thing and saves her from arrest, but not from Mallory feeling that she is again the girl in the corner and not one of the "in crowd".. Will surprises her with a job offer and also that he wants a date! Will she accept either or both? You will have to read the book to find out! I so enjoyed this book and meeting Mallory, Will, Fiona and Perky. This book is a stand alone and I look forward to reading the next book in this series.

Hilarious book from one of my favorite rom-com writers. Mallory is an out of work professional fluffer. The kind that helps realtors sell homes faster, not a sex worker. When she answers a job ad for a fluffer, things go sideways, but she gets reunited with her high school crush. Turns out he was just as interested in her, and is thrilled at the chance to get to know her.
