Perfect for preschoolers (and their parents) who resist bedtime, naptime, and sleep routines, this charming addition to the best-selling God Gave Us series will help all little ones prepare for a peaceful night’s rest.

Little Cub is having so much fun building an igloo with her friends that she doesn’t want to stop for bedtime! Who needs sleep when there’s fun to be had? Mama patiently answers her child’s questions as she puts her to bed, explaining the importance of daily rhythms of work, play, and rest. As they talk through the fears that come with nighttime—and work through Little Cub’s endless stalling tactics—our favorite bear learns to realize that God gave us sleep as a vital gift.
“God gave us rest so we have energy for our day, and patience to enjoy it. And so we have quiet time to listen to him.”

God Gave Us Sleep by Lisa Tawn Bergren is so adorable! My kids and I absolutely love this darling book. One of the reasons my kids love this book so much is because they can relate to Little Cub. Little Cub doesn't want to stop playing for bedtime, much like my kiddos. Little Cub and Mama Bear talk through fears that come with nighttime and work through Little Cub’s endless stalling tactics. I go through these very same stalling tactics with my little ones night after night. With Mama Bears help Little Cub comes to realize that God gave us sleep as a vital gift. I love that part because my kids immediately got it and agreed it was time for bed so that they could be rested and ready for another day. The illustrations are beautiful and the book is very well written. This is an absolutely perfect book for bedtime! Disclosure: I received product(s) for free, in exchange for my honest review. I only recommend products I've used personally, and believe will be good fit for consumers.

In our home, we have a pretty traditional bedtime routine. Micah usually takes a bath, then I change him into his pajamas and Papi helps him brush his teeth. We read a few stories, singing some songs, and give him a kiss goodnight before closing the door (and then we cross our fingers that he will go to sleep without us having to go back!) When I saw this book, I thought it would be a good one to have in our library. Plus Micah really likes polar bears since seeing one at the zoo a few weeks ago, so it seemed like great timing! God Gave Us Sleep is the newest addition to the God Gave Us series by author Lisa Tawn Bergren. The story focuses around Little Cub and how she learns the importance of rest and that sleep is a gift God gave us. The pages are filled with lovely illustratons and fun arctic characters. The book is recommended for children ages 3-8, and I do think the actual storyline was beyond my two year old's comprehension level. However, we still enjoyed looking through the book together and pointing out the animals, as well as talking about going to sleep and resting. I think it will be a great book for him to grow into as he is able to understand the overall message better. If you enjoy the God Gave Us series, you'll want to get a copy of God Gave Us Sleep to add to your collection.
