The Love of Mommy! This is one of the cutest children’s books I have ever seen. A group of adorable baby animals want the reader to meet their mommies so they can explain why she's wonderful. Invitations to get to know their mommy come from a dolphin, an owl, and a squirrel along with others, each cuter than the last. They all offer reasons why their mommy is the greatest. They share the special times each one has had with their mommy, along with the incredible way God made her for each one of them. Each mom teaches her child something important. The story concludes with a child who wants the reader to meet their mommy. The child speaks lovingly of her, and tells of the special things she does and teaches—along with how much love they have for each other. A child’s hands will love the feel of the nicely padded cover of this board book, and the brightly colored illustrations on every page will surely catch their eye. Every mom and her child will love to read this together. With Mother’s Day coming up, this would be a perfect gift for a mother and child in your life! I highly recommend this 5+ star book, it is a treat for all who read it.
Yes, toddlers will love the darling mom-and-baby-animal illustrations in “God Made Mommy Special.” Eight animal moms are featured in the book—sparrow, monkey, dolphin, deer, owl, snail, squirrel, and hamster—and the book concludes with a human mother and child. Yes, toddlers will enjoy the heartwarming, rhyming text, and yes, the 8x8 board book with a padded cover is sturdy for little hands. However, what makes Glenys Nellist’s book extra-special is its celebration of the mother-child relationship and the opportunity it provides for Mom and toddler to snuggle, laugh, and express the love they share. I received a no-obligation copy of "God Made Daddy Special" from the publisher, and the opinions expressed are my own.
Toddlers will delight in this new book by Glenys Nellist. It is a padded board book filled with eye-appealing illustrations and rhyme that sings. Each word has been carefully selected so that young children can relate to the ideas being presented. Each page showcases a different mommy and child "animal" while highlighting characteristics about mommies that children find special. The animals are the sparrow, monkey, dolphin, deer, owl, snail, squirrel, and hamster. The last page shows a human child and mommy and ties in James 1:17, the verse from Scripture that says, "every good and perfect gift is from God." (Mommy is God's gift to the child) Glenys did a masterful job of using the animals' natural traits and blending those into things that young children will find special about their own mommy. For example, one of my favorite pages was the one in which the Mommy owl teaches her child to soar over trees and rooftops in the night. Overall, I loved the book. It is perfect for mommy/daddy/caregiver to read and enjoy together with a young child.
