Grandpa time is such a treat! We hop to favorite places. Sometimes we nibble on ice cream And see such friendly faces.
Grandpa's jokes are good for laughs. They really make us howl! "What gets wetter as it dries?" The answer is "a towel"!
Joke, joke, joke. I love a Grandpa joke!
Grandpa's hands hide fun surprises. Which one holds the winner? I choose right — hooray for me! Green grapes won't spoil my dinner.
Grandpa's love is strong and sure. He helps to guide my way. When I fall, he picks me up And makes it all okay.
Grandpa's walks are every day. He lets me come along. Skipping down the road, we whistle A happy little song!
Whistle, whistle, whistle I love a Grandpa whistle!
Grandpa's games are just the best. "Go Fish" is number one! Sometimes I lose; sometimes I win. But either way, it's fun!
Grandpa's hobbies bring good times. He loves to take me fishing. Some days we may not catch a thing — That won't keep us from wishing!
Grandpa's books fill up the shelves. He reads aloud to me — Grand stories of adventure, And tales from the deep, blue sea!
Story, story, story. I love a Grandpa story!
Grandpa's chair is comfy-cozy With room enough to share. Before it's time to go to bed, We say a nighttime prayer.

Grandpas play an important role in a child’s life. I feel fortunate that the Grandpas on both sides of the family are very active and involved with their grandchildren. My dad was tough growing up, but with my kids? Sometimes stern, but always loving. Grandpa hugs covers those moments between Grandpa and Grandkid. Going places for a treat. Telling silly “Uncle” jokes. Helping with skills, like riding a bike. Playing games. Going fishing (or in my kids’ case-camping!). Reading books together. And the ultimate moment with Grandpa: naps. Going up, both of my kids would snuggle with Grandpa, watch some cartoons and end up falling asleep on him for hours. And true to a good Grandpa, he’d stay there until they woke up. I recommend this board book! With Father’s Day coming up soon, this would be a nice gift for both Grandpa and Grandchild. Remind them both of the tender moments they’ve shared. Maybe include a deck of Go Fish while you’re at it. Disclosure of Material Connection: I received this book free from the publisher through the BookLook Bloggers book review bloggers program. This is a gentle journey, which celebrates grandpas and all the wonderful ways they nurture and influence a grandchild's life. Grandpas do so many things: play, eat ice cream, offer support and even pray. Through rhyme, many of these touching moments are brought to light and reflected upon. Sturdy and ready for small hands, this board book will hold up to many hours of gazing and reading. Four line rhymes accompany every full page spread with a cheerful and bright description of the different things a child can experience with their grandpa. Some flow smoother than others. Every now and then, a small phrase follows in whimsical, colorful text which repeats the event in a type of sing-songy play. The illustrations are bright yet gentle, bringing across the desired loving emotions. The watercolors add an airiness which is great for the youngest listeners, while still holding enough details to draw slightly older kids in time and again. Various animals are used to depict the grandparent-grandchild relationship, and this is cleverly enough done that the grandchildren could be of either gender (which makes it easy for the youngest to relate to and imagine themselves in the situations). The words and illustrations harmonize, allowing the pictures to bring the scenes to life. This is a perfect read for those children who share a special relationship with the grandfathers. I received a complimentary copy from Booklook Bloggers and found this book so cute that I wanted to share my thoughts.
There is a special bond between my son and his Grandpa. They do everything together. I love watching them when they don’t know that I’m watching. You can see the love they share between them in everything that they do! “Grandpa Hugs” by Laura Neutzling, is a story about the unbreakable bond between a Grandpa and his Grandchild. Join these special duo’s as they learn to ride a bike, read stories and say their bedtime prayers. The story features a variety of cuddly animals that will delight little ones. Inside the pages you will find pictures of monkeys, rabbits, giraffes and other animals. The illustrations are beautiful with soft soothing colours perfect for bedtime. There are just a few lines of text on each page, making it great for young readers. There are some difficult words, such as “adventure” and “whiskers” that may challenge some younger readers. We enjoyed the change in font, it adds some whimsy to each page. While I love the whimsy the change in font may pose a challenge to new readers, notice the difference in the letter “a” in sea and Grandpa. “Grandpa Hugs” is a beautiful story that shares different activities that little ones can relate to. Sharing ice cream, telling jokes and reading stories. There are so many little life lessons shared in this story, that you will want to read it again and again to your little one. The giraffes teach us about sportsmanship and the tigers teach us about spending time together. There is a christian element to the story as well, as the puppies share a special nighttime prayer. While it is not explicitly stated in the story, “Grandpa Hugs” is a reminder that God loves us so much that he gave us Grandpas to show us! The book is a board book with a padded cover and rounded edges, perfect for little hands. It would make a beautiful gift for a Grandchild or even Grandpa! The story is a beautiful story to share with your little one at bedtime or anytime at all. *Disclosure: I received a complimentary copy of “Grandpa Hugs” from Booklook Bloggers in exchange for my review. This was such a cute little book for your favorite little one. The illustrations are so cute, I loved all the little bunnies. Their stories with all the fun things they do with their grandpa was pleasant to read. This is a great book for a grandpa to sit down and read to all of his little grandkids. I am looking forward to getting the grandma one as well for my little niece.
