Save for the few hits that cropped up in the first half of the '80s, Steve Miller's prime covers the years 1974-'78. With blockbuster albums like Fly Like an Eagle and Book of Dreams, Miller dominated the FM airwaves in the mid-'70s and became a fixture of that decade's mammoth outdoor festival circuit. While not quite on par with earlier hits like "Jet Airliner," "The Joker," and "Rock 'n Me," early-'80s singles like "Abracadabra," "Keeps Me Wondering Why," and "Heart Like a Wheel" managed to keep the "Space Cowboy" magic going. This 20-track hits collection includes all these sides plus other smashes like "Jungle Love," "Fly Like an Eagle," "Swingtown," and "Wild Mountain Honey." Supplanting the earlier Greatest Hits 1974-'78 release, this expanded and updated hits package qualifies as the essential first-disc choice for newcomers. And save for a few duds like the pop reggae "Give It Up" and 1993's "Wide River" and "Cry, Cry, Cry," the album is solid from start to finish.

This c.d. is one of the best cd's ever. It has the greatest hits of Steve Miller and some the greatest songs ever, by anyone. Although a few of the songs are edited, they are still just as good.
Steve miller is one of the greatest musicians ever and this album shows why. Highly reccomended
Steve Miller is surely a musical genius, and this compilation shows why. This is slick pop, but it is artistically great, too. There is a range of styles here: from disco (''Swingtown'') to pop-rock (''Take the Money & Run'') to country (''Dance, Dance, Dance'') to ballads (''Winter Time''). These are all fantastic songs, and no Steve Miller fan should pass this up.
I throughly enjoyed this CD from beginning to end. It has all my favorite songs (Take the MOney and Run, Fly Like an Eagle, and The Joker) and the others just complete the track list very nicely
This is one of the best cd's ever!! I've never heard better!!
What is with this CD? It's called, "Greatest Hits 1974-1978". During that period, Steve Miller only released 2 albums. This 14 track compilation also includes "The Joker" which came out in 1973. Need I go on? The CD also has edited versions of "Fly Like an Eagle", "Swingtown" and "Jet Airliner". Might I also add that the version of "The Joker" on this CD is edited as well. If this were the best ever, it would have to have the full versions of all songs.
