The start of the short GL/GA run of the '70's. Denny O'Neil and Neil Adams got away with more than they would have had the series not already been canceled. The remaining issues were to be put out and the series ended. Only these two made comic history instead.

It doesn't really get much more classic than this series. This volume spans Green Lantern issues #76-82. In an attempt to save the sales of the dying Green Lantern series, Denny O'Neil and the great Neal Adams paired the moral-bound space cop with the brusk, Robin Hood-esque Green Arrow to face issues like corruption, racism, and drug abuse. While some of the dialogue may seem dated, and the book can at times seem preachy and uninspiringly bleak, the way the stories are told are done with such grace and the pictures render the emotion perfectly. Neal Adams is at the top of his game here. The classic line is laid down in the first issue (#76) by an old black man living in a slum. He remarks to Green Lantern, 'I been readin' about you, how you work for the blue skins and how on a planet someplace you helped out the orange skins and you done considerable work for the purple skins! Only there's skins you never bothered with-- The black skins!' This is truely one of the few times during his career as Green Lantern that Hal Jordan really shows depth of character, that is prior to his breakdown. And Green Arrow is always cool. Highly Recommended!
