A promising effort, but the usual slip-shod Altissimo! package again. The US Marine Band plays a lot of interesting ceremonial music in DC. Unfortunately on this recording all we get are assorted recordings from different time periods assembled from the bands library. We don't know when these were made or who directed the band! This means there is not a consistent sound quality throughout. This can be distracting to the listener. Altissimo! never records any original material from our US Service bands. They just use music in-the-can to cobble together CDs to sell to the public. Liner notes are an improvement over the past, and at least the CD is feature length at over 60 mins.for a change. Ronald Reagan during one of his more lucid moments is pretty good talking about the band's history. He did well with a script always in front of him!
