Overview

Prequel to HIGHLANDER'S HOPE, book 2 in the Castle Brides series.

How can she love the man responsible for her husband's death?

A lonely widow far from home...

When Frenchwoman Giselle McTavish married a Scotsman, she never expected to be widowed and left to bring up their son alone. Nonetheless, she's determined the next laird will be raised in Scotland. Even though Highlander Hugh Ferguson—the man she holds responsible for her death—also lives at Craiglocky Keep. As time passes, she struggles to overcome loneliness and homesickness as well as fight the warm feelings Hugh now stirs.

A warrior consumed with guilt...

Hugh has loved Giselle almost from the moment he laid eyes on her. But as the wife—then widow—of his dearest friend, she's forbidden fruit. He refuses to act on his feelings for her, especially since she's never shown any romantic interest in him. But that changes one providential Valentine's Day when he risks everything by using Scottish folklore and legend to at last proclaim his love...

Interesting prequel.

The story and author show much promise. I believe the first reviewer was somewhat unfair. I wish it was written as a full length book.

Heart Of A Highlander by Collette Cameron is a fairly short read, perfect for those with limited reading time. Ms. Cameron has delivered a well-written story and filled it with lovable characters. Hugh and Giselle's story has plenty of drama, humor and spice to keep the pages flipping. I enjoyed reading Heart Of A Highlander and look forward to reading more from Collette Cameron in the future. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.

Call it by any other high fangled literary jargon; it's just a handful of chapters.

Giselle McTavish never expected to be a widow after 2 short years of marriage but there she was picking weeds from her husbands grave on Valentines Day with Ewan, her 3 year old son who was now head of the clan, waiting nearby. Valentine's Day...what a cruel day when she has lost the one she loved & the man she could love doesn't know she exists. Hugh Ferguson has long loved the wife of his best friend. The friend that lost his life when it should have been Hugh who drowned. He knows Giselle blames him for her husband's death & vows to treat her son as his own but never show his true feelings for her. Until Valentine's Day. A beautiful story of second loves & a wonderful short prelude to Collette Cameron's Highlander's Hope in the Castle Bride Series.

The very short story does the job of setting the stage and giving the origins of the main character in the full length book. Following the 20 page prequel you can read the first chapter of the full length book which is available to purchase.
