During Flynn Bensen's last wildfire rescue, a woman died despite Flynn's best efforts to save her. He can't escape his sense of failure or recurring nightmares, but he can escape to Marietta, Montana, to a new job as the head of Crawford County Search and Rescue. When he meets his scorching hot co-worker on his first day, Flynn feels like he might have just jumped from one wild fire to another that threatens to burn out of control despite his determination to keep a safe distance.

Outspoken, direct, and ambitious Kat Robinson isn't thrilled to have a new boss--after all, if the timing had been different, she'd have been a shoe-in for Flynn's job. But a single mom of a ten-year-old son knows where her priorities lay--with Brady, the light of her life. No way is she looking for a relationship and co-workers are always off limits. Too bad Flynn's so darn hot, gorgeous, kind and authentic.

Will Flynn be the hero Kat needs to help her find the courage to fall in love again?

This book looked really good when I started it. I feel like this book was about one kind of Aspbergers. Without any real plot.

In nineteen chapters, Debra Salonen wrote a romance about Flynn and Katherine. They had endured rough situations in their past. Flynn's wife was a co-worker who seduced him into marriage. He used his inheritance to buy a home he list in their divorce. Kat was a single mother of an autistic son. Her grandmother suffered from Alzheimers and was abusive before death. Her mother would never tell her the name of her father, and when her Alzheimer's kicked in, Kat was afraid that she was doomed to be cursed by Alzheimer's, too. Flynn met Kat at work, which was THE reason he tried to stay separate. He wasn't interested in all the drama a romance in the workplace stirred up. Kat had a secret. She had found clues in her mother's things after her death that made Kat feel that her father lived in Montana. In fact, she found work on the locsl SAR team at Marietta where her possible family were important people. Debra Salonen did well in developing the story, despite the explicit sex scenes. These two damaged people had baggage that could have stopped them long before they discovered each other. What brought them together despite their history was their sexual tension! I recommend this for mature adults.

Moving to Montana Flynn needed a new start, the nightmares kept coming, his brother sent him a link for a job with the SAR in Marietta where he is living. His friends from the Hot Shot team where going to join him in different ways. Kat and her son Brady moved to Marietta after her mom died, she said she was happiest there. But in part Kat found out her dad was from there. When Flynn starts, Kat impresses him and her son Brady is a good kid. They have to see where it goes.

I loved this story a lot! Flynn changed jobs in hope it will help combat his PTSD, the last thing he expected was to find a woman to love again. But, Kat isn't any woman, and she has a special needs child, plus, she's trying to find her birth father. But working together makes it harder to fight temptation. A lot of complications to overcome, but this story finds a way for everything to work out--love, family, trust! Another fabulous addition to this series!

This is another great book by author Debra Salonen. This one is part of a series called Big Sky Mavericks. Flynn was a former firefighter when he had an elderly he was trying to rescue died during a fire. Flynn blamed himself for her not surviving even though everyone said that he had done all he could and it wasn’t his fault. He did not believe them and blamed himself. He packed up and moved near his brother and several of his very close firefighter buddies went with him. Flynn took a new job as Chief of SAR. Known as Search and Rescue. He meets Katherine (Kat) who is part of his team. She had issues with the last Chief and expects to have issues with this one. She doesn’t cut him any slack. She has ideas she presents to him to improve the SAR organization. Kat also has a small son who is …… well lets just say that he is not your typical child. Well lets just say that this book is full of surprises and is an awesome read. Can’t wait to read the next one in the series. If you haven’t read the other ones in this series, that’s ok because Debra has written the book so well that you feel like you already know the characters and you never feel lost in the book, or at least not in the sense that you are confused about the characters. I get lost in most of my books and sometimes don’t want to get back out of them. Such a great read, you should pick up your copy today and give it a try you won’t be disappointed.

Awesome return to the Big Sky Mavericks! In Montana Hero, Debra Salonen has found a way to bring the reader back to Marietta and bring back the Big Sky Mavericks. Flynn Bensen needed a change of scenery after, and, when his brother Ryker convinced him to take a job in Marietta, he had the perfect opportunity to make the move and try something little different. Single Mom Kat Robinson brought her son to Marietta hoping to find out why it was where her Mom was happiest and see if it was the place for her. The attraction between the two is instantaneous, but since Flynn is Kat's boss, they both have reasons for resisting. As things heat up, secrets come out, and Kat has to decide if Marietta is someplace she can stay and if Flynn is the man for her. These two were such fun characters. These were two realistic characters searching for their place. Salonen did a wonderful job of developing them and their story, making the reader feel that they were people that could be found anywhere. Throw in Kat's son Brady, and the Zabrinski clan, and you have an amazing cast of characters. I love that she was able to bring us back into her Big Sky Mavericks series, introducing new characters that fit right in. Even if you haven't read any of the other stories, you won't be lost reading this one. I really enjoyed the story and was excited at the chance to revisit past characters. Salonen has a style that pulls you in and keeps you so involved in the story that you don't realize you aren't actually a part of the story until you hit the last word. **I received an Advanced Reader's Copy from the Publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

What a vivid & vibrant story! Salonen captured me heart and soul with this heartfelt and emotional tale of love in many forms. I love the way that she brought Montana to life, the beauty and the danger of it apparent in every scene. The way in which SAR worked in action was amazing. It was so real and life like, I could feel the intensity of the situations. The variety of different situations that these characters had to deal with on a daily basis, bet they medical or familial or both, added a sense of poignancy and realism to the entire tale. Salonen brought each of them to life in a realistic and apparent way that also brought forth her sensitivity for the subject. I like the way that Brady was developed. His personal POV really let me see how he thinks and feels, as well as how he stands apart from what most consider ‘normal’. Surrounded by his loving mother and the ever present Flynn, who’s budding romance can’t be missed, this is an atypical familial unit that definitely drew me in. Salonen never fails to capture me with the emotions conveyed through her novels. MONTANA HERO is no exception. If anything, this well plotted, exciting, and romantic novel stands above the rest. It’s definitely a novel that I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to those who enjoy romance. Please note that I received a complimentary copy of this work in exchange for an honest review.
