Overview

#1 New York Times bestselling author Brad Meltzer brings together a remarkable group of heroes with one thing in common: they were ordinary people who became extraordinary.

A perfect companion to girl power collections like Goodnight Stories for Rebel Girls, Rachel Ignotofsky’s Women in Science: 50 Fearless Pioneers Who Changed the World, and Vashti Harrison’s Little Leaders, Heroes for My Daughter is a necessary addition for children, parents, teachers, and anyone looking for inspiration. The sixty featured figures represent the spectacular potential we all have within us to change the world.

The dynamic pages full of photos, quotes, and brief biographies are perfect for reading aloud and allow every reader to explore at their own pace. Not limited to female role models, the wonderfully diverse heroes included in the book are men, women, historical, contemporary, athletes, actors, inventors, politicians, and so much more.

Heroes for My Daughter is a book to be read again and again, as the simple question of what makes a hero remains a vital part of today’s conversation.

This book is a wonderful read. I loved it and already gave it to my daughter to read. Everyone person(s) that Brad Meltzer chose for this book was a wonderful inspiration for anyone. I loved that Brad had quotes from or about each hero and that he had people from his life that are his heroes. Great book. I absolutely loved it.

Reviewed by Kristie Ingerto for Readers' Favorite Heroes for My Daughter, written and read by Brad Meltzer, is an audiobook that will inspire you to be a role model for your daughter and to teach lessons through how you live your life. This audiobook includes an introduction explaining why the author wrote this book. There are thirty-three individuals included in this book. Each individual is a hero in the author’s eyes and has a quality which he hopes his daughter will aspire to in her own life. A few heroes included are Audrey Hepburn, Helen Keller, Winston Churchill, Dorothy Day, and Theodore Roosevelt. While these individuals are well-known, the reason they are included in this book is not because of their fame, but for a generous or inspiring act they have done in their lives.  This is an excellent collection of heroes. While listening to this audiobook, I really thought about the individuals I would like my daughter to look up to and also how I need to strive to be such an individual as well. I like that each track on the CD is about a different individual, making this easy to pop in and listen to a tidbit about a specific individual. I also like that Meltzer includes a little bit about each person, and also a quote from that individual. I love the personal touch that is included as the author is reading the book to his daughter in the recording studio. This is a treasure that every parent should have for their daughter.
