I found the author's characters to be very well drawn and well developed. As I read the book, I found that I cared about these family members and what happened to them. Also, the author did an excellent job of expressing the emotions of a teenager after the sudden death of her mother. I found it fascinating to read how the main character coped with a difficult situation and I was motivated to keep reading to find out how it all worked out.
