I am impressed by the quality of this translation. It is clear and gives the meaning of the text in good, flowing modern English. I plan to use it to read through various passages to see if I get any new insights into the text. I used the NLT version of the 23rd Psalm at a funeral service and was a bit concerned that it would not have the impact of the KJV translation, buy in fact it made the Psalm more understandable to many listeners because of its "fresh" yet accurate language.

I bought this for my Nook after reading the reviews. It's true that navigation is non-existent for this Bible on the Nook, but I still bought it because I wanted it mainly as a reading Bible and do not plan to jump around an awful lot. Even though there are links in the next (for footnotes or to jump to chapters in books, other links, etc), there is no way to activate those links because the touch screen does not give you the option. Therefore, I have to use the 'Find' feature to search book name and chapter (ex: Genesis 12) and it will take me to the chapter. It works for me. This is an excellent translation for reading the Bible through. The translation is meant to "produce in English the closest natural equivalent of the message" and not necessarily a word for word translation. It's not a paraphrase, but leans that way. It's extremely readable, which is why I bought it.

NLT is a great translation which is easy to read and comprehend. It is my favorite for everyday reading. However, this version is terrible to navigate with my nook. I can find no easy way to get to a book of the bible, much less a chapter. If anyone has any tips, clue me in. UPDATE: With 3 months of experience with my nook, I went back to this one and tried again. If you choose "go to," then "chapter" and scroll down and down and down, you do eventually get to each book of the Bible. Tap on a book and away you go. I would now rate this 3 stars only however. First, at the start of each book is a listing of all the chapters, plus a previous and next chapter area...but you can't scroll to these and use them, so they are worthless. Also, one might think the Tyndale Bible Verse finder is a search function to find a particular verse. Not so! It is a listing of various topics one might be interested in studying. Again, it has a list that you can't scroll through. Fix these navigation problems and I would rate this a 5. If I learn more, I will pass it along here.

I really like this version of text, it's very easy to read and understand. Unfortunatly, it does not work with my nook. It takes forever to open and it's impossible to navigate from book to book. I cntacted Tyndales customer service and they never responded (over a month ago), very disapointing.

Once you get the hang of finding the books it's easy to find chapters in this bible. You'll have to get beyond the Table of Contents in order to get to the book you want and remember to type the exact book title, i.e. "The Book of John" when searching. The thing to remember is that "search" will only look forward. So if you are in the new testament don't try to find the book of Exocus. I haven't had any success at all finding specific verses though. But that's okay. I read this bible because it's easy to understand and is written in everyday language so you can get a little Word in you anywhere you go :-) Although I do use underlining and notes, I still prefer to do my personal bible study and devotions with a bible I can write in and more easily use the concordance to look up verses I want to find. Blessings!

This translation is wonderful. Because of a negitive review on this site, I bought a NIV version first and found it to be hard to navigate. I archived it and bought this one. I don't understand why the negitive reviewer found this one hard to navigate. There is simply nothing difficult about it. The footnotes are even easy to get to and then return to your reading place. I highly recomend this version!

I purchased this from my nook and for my nook. It did take a while to download and the trick was leaving it open for downloading. I let it go to sleep mode so it stopped downloading but later I opened it and started looking through it and it finished up while I did that. The GO TO > Chapter works for looking for books of the Bible (Psalms, Matthew, etc.) and the Find works for looking up particular Chapters (Revelation 3) but to find a verse you will just have to turn pages. I like the translation too. It's a good read aloud version (which is why I bought it). I normally read New King James. I'm very happy!

I almost did not get this ebook because of the negative reviews about how it does not download on the nook. I don't think those people have the nookcolor because it works great on mine. It downloaded fast (like within a minute or so) and it is easy to navigate through. I totally recommend this bible if you have the nookcolor!!!

After download, navigation keys and highlight bar are missing making it impossible to get around in this Bible. After reading the other reviews, it's a shame that B & N personnel cannot and will not refund costs to those who purchased this book. I suggest purchasing ebooks from other sites.

I love this translation however the navigation doesn't work on the Nook. Had to go with the NIV eBook instead.

This version take a while to load but it is quick and easy to find scriptures once it does. To find a verse you are looking for: 1. Press "Go To" 2. Press "Chapter" the screen will say loading chapters - this will take a bit but once they are loaded you can go to any chapter very quickly as long as you do not leave it to read something else. 3. Scroll with you finger and Press "Galatians" for example - you get a list of the chapter numbers in this book. 4. Arrow down to the chapter number click it will take you to the chapter then just press the forward button to find the verse you are looking for. (you can also use the find to type in th verse number but I find it easier to just forward through. I use this in church without any problems. If you want something that is quicker, buy the King James version for $2.99 where you can just type in the Chapter and verse it loads quickly and takes you right there but most folks do not like the KJV any more. Happy Reading!!

After reading ALL the reviews for this bible I decided to go with my gut and purchase this version. I am thrilled with the text and the navigation is working perfectly. I appreciate that I can reference supporting verses with one touch. After comparing versions and prices in book stores, I believe that this bible's price is amazingly low! Highly recommend this purchase!

Because bible is so big when you first open it seems to freeze up, but if you wait a minute it works great. Love that it has Jesus' words in red, you can navigate easily through the scriptures and I love that I can highlight and write notes. For the price I am very happy. I suggest you give it a try.

As a relatvely newly saved Christian, I have attempted to read through the Scriptures on many occasions. I have attempted King James, NIV, and Revised, but the New Living Testament really works for me. It is translated in easily readable material - while, in my optinion, not changing God's Word.

I would not even give it one star except it is required to rate it. This is absolutely the worse eBible in that it takes way too long to open; I'm talking 30-60 minutes! Something is definitely wrong; B&N should correct or offer replacement. Try the Quest Study Bible: The Question and Answer Bible (it is not the same as the hardcopy). I downloaded the sample and navigating was pretty easy. http://search.barnesandnoble.com/books/e/9780310870470/?itm=1&USRI=quest+niv+study+bible

This is my favorite Bible on the Nook. The translation is a good balance between literalism and readability, without the quirks and individualistic interpretations associated with its spiritual parent, The Living Bible. I would prefer the NIV slightly, but the Nook version of that book has a huge, hard-to-navigate index with EVERY CHAPTER listed separately. The NLT is better thought out, with the main index linking to a page of chapter links for each book. A minor glitch is that it always goes back to the first page of the main index, so if you're in Matthew and want to look at something in Acts, you have to start from Genesis. For that reason, I prefer the Holman Christian Standard Bible in situations where I want to navigate quickly, like looking up passages during a sermon. But for daily reading, this NLT is the best around.

Works like a charm on the touch. Loads about average, but once it loads is fairly quick. Love the translation. The content page actually loads what book you are on unlike the NIV. Great!

I was impressed by the quick download and did not have any of the problems the previous reviewers had. I purchased, downloaded, and had access to it in 60 seconds

I download this for use at church since we use the NLT in my church. I was very disappointed in the slow and difficult navigation. Might be okay for reading at home, but much to slow to be user friendly in my opinion. I read the reviews before I bought and shame on me for not listening to the reviewers.
