My five-year-old grandson loves the Piggie and Elephant storybooks. They are all fun stories to read together and written so beginner readers can quickly begin reading on their own.

This book passed the grandkids test. They all loved it! As usual, there is a lot of drama on the part of Gerald the Elephant, only to learn that it was all so unneccessary.....a great lesson and a fun read.

The elephant and piggie series are great starter books for kids learning to read.

Another wonderful tale by Mo! The best in this series are still "I'm invited to a party" and "There is a bird on your head." However, "I am Going" is another tale of two best buds that my students will love. Gerald just can't believe Piggie is going and has an entertaining tantrum. For teachers, Piggie and Elephant books are a great way to talk about emotions in stories such as frustration and overreaction. Mo uses lots of different punctuation. His stories are fabulous for teaching narrative voice! I also love how Mo makes sure to solve problems in his book in a way that makes silly sense to kids. Thank you Mo! Keep 'em coming!

the book look so cute, with the art draw how the Elephant cry and look wory and yes, the piggie too. is really cute. I love it! the book about two friends and the elephant keep worry that the piggie will go away not wanted to play with him. But turn out it's time for lunch and later they both enjoyed lunch together.

This is a perfect first book for a child to read outloud. It is a fun story about friends with simple words that repeat.

We quote this book all the time around my house after reading it. It has turned an everyday saying of 'I am going' into an introduction to hilarity. Gerald is so overly dramatic and emotional, he is fun to read and exaggerate. This is a great book for early readers, as well as experienced readers like myself!

Kearsten says: While I did enjoy this, I must admit it was bit disappointing, as I find I now expect genius every time I open a Mo Willems book...Piggie annouces to Gerald that she's leaving and he PANICS, before waiting to hear that the situation isn't dire...A good story for illustrating the value of *not* jumping to conclusions.

A bit disappointing, as I expect genius every time I open a Mo Willems book nowadays. Piggie annouces to Gerald that she's leaving and he PANICS, before waiting to hear that the situation isn't dire...A good story for illustrating the value of *not* jumping to conclusions.

Piggie says, "I Am Going" but Elephant is really upset that she is. He keeps asking, "WHY?!?" and Piggie eventually says it's because it's lunchtime. So, they end up having a picnic together. It's not as funny as the other books in my opinion. Good for early childhood.
