A little girl dreams that she's all alone at sea in a tiny boat. It's dark, and the sea is scary. Then she sees the gentle moon, the first sign of God's love. The moon, the stars, and at last the sun lend enough light to lead her back to shore, where she realizes she was never alone at all. God has brought her safely home.

Based on a traditional children's rhyme, Kathy Appelt's poetic text and Debra Reid Jenkins' imaginative and dramatic paintings, accented in gold leaf, convey a sense of mystery and wonder and make this book a perfect illustration of God's abiding love.

My son knows that after "The Moon Book" he goes to bed. First are the Nook books and maybe a library book but then there is the Moon Book. Once that is read he knows it is time for sleep time. He loves it - it has been over a year now of reading it every night. Please, please but it on the Nook! In read to me mode.

My son received this book from his Godparents, and it is wonderful. A very gentle story introducing the protective love that God shares. We read this book over and over. The age range is 3 to 8, but we read it to him as an 18 month old, and it has been a favorite for a long time. The illustrations are gorgeous, and the text is simple and sweet. Now I have been asked to be a Godmother for my niece and I am ordering it as a gift for her. It has a nice comforting message about God without being heavy handed....just great. Enjoy!!
