Secrecy and intrigue ignite dangerous passions in New York Times bestselling author Hannah Howell's seductive new novel. . .

It is whispered throughout London that the members of the Wherlocke family are possessed of certain unexplainable gifts. But Lord Ashton Radmoor is skeptical--until he finds an innocent beauty lying drugged and helpless in the bedroom of a brothel.

The mystery woman is Penelope Wherlocke, and her special gift of sight is leading her deep into a dangerous world of treachery and betrayal. Ashton knows he should forget her, yet he's drawn deeper into the vortex of her life, determined to keep her safe. But Penelope is no ordinary woman, and she's never met the man strong enough to contend with her unusual abilities.

Until now. . .

Easy read, keeps the characters moving, with an interesting plot. Some playfulness with the writing, very enjoyable as usually her books are!

In 1788 an unknown adversary abducts Lady Penelope Wherlocke and sells her to a brothel. Meanwhile friends of Lord Ashton Radmoore arrange a final tryst at a brothel before he marries. He is stunned to find a drugged Penelope, who allegedly can see ghosts, waiting in the room for him. She recognizes him as stepsister's boyfriend. However before he can act, a horde invades the room as the Wherlocke friends and family rush to rescue Penelope. Unable to move on and forget the woman, Ashton investigates the kidnapping and sex sale pondering who could harm a caring innocent woman nurturing ten boys As he falls in love, he wonders how to end his engagement and persuade Penelope she is his beloved when he mocks her paranormal gift as a sham. The second Wherelockes Georgian paranormal romance (see If he's Wicked) is an enjoyable fairy tale with several major subplots and a horde of strong support characters, but anchored by the Cinderella lead female. The story line is fast-paced from the opening kidnapping and never slows down as readers wonder whether Ashton will prove to be Prince Charming or If He's Wild using the beleaguer heroine for a last fling. Enjoyable if somewhat tepid romance. The hero and heroine are curiously passive. The villains are cartoonish in their perfidy. The underlying premise of the series (an eccentric family, each gifted with supernatural powers) is interesting enough that I'd try another book by this author.

This was my first time reading a book by Hannah Howell. She's one of those authors I've been wanting to read for along time. I'm glad I did too, this book was an enjoyable read. This is the 2nd book in the series. I don't usually read book series out of order, but I had no trouble following along with this installment. If He's Sinful, pulled me in with the intrigue behind the Wherlocke family gifts and the beautiful romance between Lord Ashton and Penelope. If you love Historicals, I don't doubt you'll enjoy this one too.

Exciting beginning but too many characters took away from building of leads relationship & interaction Not like 'highland groom' which had well done one on one dialogue, relationship development, & romantic conflict between H&h, was 5 star !
