Overview

Coheed and Cambria continue to combine metal, pop, and sometimes punk influences on In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3. The high-register vocals of Claudio Sanchez are reminiscent of Shudder to Think's Nathan Larson. The vocals combined with the glam metal-pop music of such tracks as "The Velourium Camper I: Faint of Hearts" and "Blood Red Summer" can at times bring out the influences of Queen, T. Rex, or the Cars, and the recent influences of Cap'n Jazz or Jets to Brazil. Coheed and Cambria could look a bit more to these influential bands that they take from and cut down on song length and tedious poetry. The production of In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3 keeps the passionate emotion at bay. The double-tracking of guitars can give an interesting metal-influenced sound, as on "Cuts Marked in the March of Men" and "The Crowing," but production choices hold back the distortion and push up the reverb, keeping the whole record a bit too safe. Coheed & Cambria are at their best when they combine the half-time chumpdowns of Braid-like emo with late-'70s/early-'80s-influenced glam pop stylings. "Three Evils (Embodied in Love and Shadow)" and "The Velourium Camper III: Al the Killer" are Coheed and Cambria's best examples of their uses of angular, driving metal and passionately sung/screamed double-tracked vocals. In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3 furthers Coheed and Cambria's efforts to make an epic record, but that may only be in length and a grand vision of the final outcome that falls a bit short.

i've enjoyed all there music, at first i didnt like them they grew on me after awhile now they put a smile on my face alot of there songs so cathcy make u wanna clap youre hands lyrics are sweet in all there stuff that i've heard and i think personally that its ingenus that its all based on the charcters coheed and cambria i didnt know that for awhile cause i was always trying to figure out what there lyrics meant(some songs you can apply to life) but most is about coheed and cambria that is awesome to do that good job on that.

all I can say is oh my. This CD is kind of amazing. It's so quirky, I mean who else says lyrics like, "pull the trigger and the nightmare stops" over totally pop instrumentals? Claudio's range blows my socks off. My mom thought it was a girl singing. And dude, don't rag on other people's choice of music. it reflects a lack of maturity and closemindedness. but more over, why do u even care?

Upon purchasing Coheed and Cambria's CD, in keeping secrets from silent Earth:3, I knew I was in for a treat just because it is... well, another Coheed CD. Once in that CD player, it never came out. With Beautiful, yet sometimes furocious guitar licks, and Claudio's unrelenting vocals, you will be bombarded with stories that you never wanted to hear, but just can't stop listening. To explain this in more detail, you may want to check out their website. From the metal riff's of "the crowning" to the acoustic melody of "The Light and the glass" you will not want to push stop on you players. So please, pick it up, check it out, and let Claudio, Travis, Joshua, and Michael, otherwise known as Coheed and CAmbria, take you on a journey you will never forget.

If you don't ownCoheed's CD "The Second-Stage Turbine Blade," you cannot be prepared for "In Keeping Secrets..."non-stop beautiful melodies and amazing song writing... with a back-story behind the music that has newcomers in awe. Compare to who you want...rush, zeppelin, journey... a little of each band is in there, and thank god they are!

I'm torn, because I don't want Co&Ca to become so popular that it corrupts their ability to keep making the kind of music they want, but I wish everyone knew about how awesome this band is. I got Second Stage Turbine Blade first, then this CD a month later. That was back in January, this is May, and I think I've listened to other CDs on maybe a handful of occasions since then. I got my husband hooked on this band too. I guess we're atypical fans, in our early 30s, but Claudio and the guys have so much to offer musically. This music is very complex, and it has a great storyline to boot. You can spend endless hours analysing the songs to see how they fit into the story, too. Quite frankly, there hasn't been a band in a very long time that blew me away quite like this. They were a bit of an acquired taste - I heard "Three Evils" on a compilation and wasn't sure I liked it at first, but it really grew on me and before I knew it was hooked...nay, obsessed. It's really hard to compare them to anyone else. They're a little bit emo, a little punk, glam, a lot of heavy metal. Just incredible.

this C-d is beyond amazing! i was counting down days until it came out and it was worth the wait. It is equally as good as the first cd!

Dark, sometimes eerie lyrics with a catchy tune. Once you listen to it, you will be hooked. My personal favorites include "Three Evils (Embodied in Love and Shadow)", "The Camper Velourium III: Al the Killer" and "A Favor House Atlantic". This will become the only CD you will want to listen to.

Dang, Claudio and the gang did it again. In a year full of some mediocre bands/albums (White Stripes, Good Charlotte, Blink 182, to name a few), Coheed and Cambria come through like a breath of fresh air. Their complex musical style, and deep lyrics are a welcome change from the packaged stuff that's out there now. Right from the start, they grab your attention and never let go. 1:10:48 later, they've still got your attention and leave you begging for more. Highlight tracks include the title track, Three Evils, Blood Red Summer, and The Crowing. If you're just hearing about them, I would suggest picking up their first album before you get this one. "Second Stage Turbine Blade" is in my top 5 favorite albums of all time. Do yourself a favor and break free from all of the pre-packaged, bubble gum pop punk that is out there and check these guys out.

I have been a Coheed and Cambria fan for only a short time and am deeply impressed with the talent that these guys exhibit. "In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3" is a must have for any fan of the general genre of rock/emo/hair metal/punk. Buy this CD and you will be in heavenly bliss.

This album is another credit to this millenium's best new band. It's almost unbelievable that a band with so little on it's resume pulls out the second of two great feats so far. This album is almost indescribable; it is simply one of the greatest albums compiled in this modern age. To find an album of this calibre, only few places offer such an oasis of pure muical genius like this album. After listeneing to this album once, I couldn't believe what glories my ears beheld. With such solid talent in every single aspect of this band, it becomes a losing battle to find any fault with this album. Such an original and fully refreshing sound in a sea of mediocre pop music and pointless rambling rap, Coheed lays out a series of songs, so amazing, so consistently good, that I had to listen to it again and again out of pure awe for such a glorious work. Anybody who even thinks thay have a clue to what god music sounds like should buy this album to see how music was meant to be played.

I'm sick of people loving this cd when its not even that good, ive read reviews and theyre like omg great lyrics songwritings the songs are about nothing its a bunch of jumble just quickly put together, though i like coheed and cambria, im not too thrilled by this cd, second stage turbine blade was much better, and all you kids listening to dashboard, yellowcard and saves the day and bad music like that please stop your making my ears bleed and i dont think coheed likes it very much that you like them too

This CD only needs 1 word to explain it. That word is: Awesome. This CD is probably out of all my other rock CD's, the best one I have. Their music fits all together and their songs are so long. It's so cool to listen to them. You can really get into their music like songs "The Light and the Glass," "In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth:3," and "The Crowing." The other songs are excellent too but these are just examples. My favorite track on this CD is "The Light and the Glass." I didn't listen to it until about 2 months after I got it but I really fell in love. I like how it's 9 minutes long and they go from a soft song to a heavy song. Their guitarists, Travis Stever and Claudio Sanchez are so under-rated. The solo's in their songs make it really enjoyable and they make you want to listen to it over and over again. Please give this CD a chance and guaruntee you that it WON'T dissapoint you.

this amazing album is like nothing you will ever hear, its one big story pressed together in a cd. Much like coheed's first album it is totally creative and off the hook, cluadio's intense vocals and the powerful but catchy gutiars are only part of what makes this album freakin great.

What a great album. I really don't think i need to say anything more about it. I can't compare this to anything else that i have ever heard. It's quite unique and very much worth the buy.

This is definetly the best release of the year so far, Coheed is and amazing band with loads of talent. The guitar is so well done and technical it's too amazing. Michael wrote some of the best bass lines i've ever heard. True this album is quite poppy but it evens itself out with the amazingly good lyrics. The lyrics are one of the albums many strong points, they are dark and cold but in the end u come out feeling like they put there heart and soul into it. This band never ceases to amaze. If u liked Second Stage Turbine Blade your going to love this album

"In Keeping Secrets Of Silent Earth: 3" is the MOST melodic, dark rivetted, emotionally disturbing, and beautiful album of '03. Claudio Sanchez's vocals are astounding, colaborating sadness with happiness, combining the two together to fit as well as two pieces from opposite jigsaw puzzles. It's hardcore, emo, punk, and rock wrapped altogether in one bite sized shockwave of brilliance. Definitely a "one of a kind" band and are unique in every way. This album falls nothing short of perfection, it will BLOW YOUR MIND!

This newest release from Coheed and Cambria is simply, behond all words, 4 amazing musicians have created the ultimate sound....AGAIN!!

This album is undescribeable in the sense that Coheed is in a wonderful genre of their own. They combine so many elements of music into one album that you really can't label them rock or punk or emo or anything else you can think up. I would recommend this album to anyone, even the ones that are kind of picky about their music. In one sentence, this album makes skidmarks in my pants every time i listen to it.

With lyrics such as "Awake through motion with curiosity to curtain your first move..." Coheed and Cambria is back and better than ever. Melodic lyrics and emotional, yet powerful songs, enable you to experience music on a new level. Can you afford to pass this revolutionary opportunity up? I think not.

This album is amazing. Although much of it refers to the death of mainly women, but does include many figures' death. I really enjoyed the amount of rock involved in this album and it clearly shows the dry sense of humor these guys have. Trust me... this album is fricken awesome.

This cd is simply amazing. The lead in from "The Ring in Return" into "In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth:3" combines to be the most amazing song i've ever heard. These songs are not about nothing they all are about a story that Claudio the lead singer is writing and that is what makes their music so good because we dont just hear sappy love songs and the same old things that we're used to in music. If you're not a Coheed fan i recommend you see them live. It is the greatest show you will ever see. They are the only band where every single person in the place screams every single lyric at the top of their lungs. And to see Claudio on guitar and going nuts is simply amazing. I cant say enough about this album except to go out and buy it!!

This Coheed's best cd. Their music is so original. The lyrics are great and so is the beat. There is no one out there like Coheed and I think they should get a little more recognition. Coheed and Cambria Rock. BIG FAN!!!
