I know a lot of books are dubbed 'classics', but this one really is the real thing. It's book 2 in the awesome Jesse Jameson Alpha to Omega series written by British children's fantasy writer, Sean Wright. The thing that stood out for me was the break-neck pace of the narrative, action, and subtle plot twists. Jesse Jameson and the Bogie Beast is scary, too, with the Bogie Beast taking centre stage in this memerable tale of Jesse's other world discoveries. Jesse has a new quest: to return to the dark Kingdom of Finnigull to find her best friend, Jake Briggs. But there are new difficulties to overcome. Kildrith, a dark warlock hunts Jesse down, and the witch-sisters, Dendrith and Gwendrith seek revenge and Jesse's precious golden glow. The mysterious, cataclysmic force, the Rumble, erases everything it meets., and it's headed straight for Jesse. Then, of course, there's her mad father, a creature of vileness, the Bogie Beast. He plays his haunting melody that returns all of his thousands of children to him in his hideaway beneath the Mountains of Mourn. And it's up to Jesse to save the day. There are many surprises in this modern classic. So, do youself a favour if you haven't already, read it. Every page is class - a real treat.
