Overview

Le Morte d'Arthur is Sir Thomas Malory's compilation of English tales and stories translated from the French about the legendary King Arthur and his kingdom of Camelot. It tells of Arthur's ascent to the throne following his removal of the sword from the stone, his choosing of his most valorous knights to serve as his Knights of the Round Table, his receipt of the enchanted sword Excalibur from the Lady of the Lake, his marriage to the Lady Guenever, his adventures with Sir Lancelot, and his quest to find the Holy Grail.  This edition of Le Morte d'Arthur features the modernized text of William Caxton's original 1485 edition, as well as the classic full-color artwork of Arthur Rackham. Le Morte d'Arthur is one of Barnes & Noble's Collectible Editions classics. Each volume features authoritative texts by the world's greatest authors in an exquisitely designed bonded-leather binding, with distinctive gilt edging and a silk-ribbon bookmark. Decorative, durable, and collectible, these books offer hours of pleasure to readers young and old and are an indispensable cornerstone for every home library.

I've just recently started collecting the B&N leather edition books and this book was one of the books that made me want to start collecting them. The cover of this book is absolutely beautiful, I am shocked to find something of this quality for the price it is selling for. I know that a lot of people are upset at all the reprints but as someone who just started collecting I'm grateful for them otherwise I wouldn't be able to get most of older books(and with the exception of Dorian Gray all the reprint covers are so much better). The one book I really want to see reprinted is The Chronicles or Narnia, please bring this book back! However there are so many other great books I would love to see added to this series such as: The Great Gatsby The House of the Seven Gables Robin Hood A Tale of Two Cities The Hunger Games (it might not be an old classic but it is a new one just like Star Wars, Wicked and The Chronicle of Narnia that you brought into the collectible edition series)

Beautiful! Even the much-heralded Easton Press would have a hard time producing a more visually appealing edition. Keep up the great work in this series B&N!

She concentrated with her eyes closed. When she opened them she had three different snowballs in the air. Chuckling she pelted them at Neveren.

I simply LOVE this edition of "Le Morte d"Arthur". The cover art is beautiful. Definitely a nice addition to the B&N leather-bound series!

Extremely frustrating that the color plates of a master illustrator are...not in color....and that even though they are included in black and white, they are very poor facsimiles. I know this is a bargain edition, but with so much love put into the design, why skimp when it comes to a handful of pages that could really be stunning in color? I'm so sad. What a treasure it could have been. And I'd've paid $5 more for the colored ink. Rackham's line drawings, made to be in black and white, do look lovely.
