Bill was a gifted child with a visionary mind. He was excited about technology and correctly predicted how developing technology would affect the world. I bought this book for my son who is an avid reader. He especially loves to read about people and places. This book is about Bill Gates’ life and career, it would be a great choice for doing a book report because there are many facts that can be shared. The story was easy to read though some of the topics are a bit advanced for the younger kids to comprehend. We are from Oregon and so the fact that Bill Gates grew up in and still lives in Washington made it easy for him to relate to.

Even though this is a story for young children to learn about Bill Gates, I actually enjoyed it too. I learned a lot of things about him that I didn’t know, for example I’ve never heard anything about his childhood before. I really liked the funny stories about his school years, and how he developed the first games. This book is a great way for children to learn about the man who made computers possible for the whole world. It just goes to show that one person really can make a difference and change the world for the better. I liked that this book also focused on how his parents raised him to work hard, and be respectful and do good things in the world. Those are always good lessons for kids to learn. I think parents will enjoy reading this book with their children and opening a discussion about things like work ethic, doing what you love and volunteer work.

This was a super cute book! What a great introduction to basic computer concepts and their introduction into people's lives. If you read this with your kid, be prepared to follow up by looking up words like BASIC and MS-DOS, things most kids today won't have even heard about. All in all, this book was a good reminder that Bill Gates was just a kid once too and that he worked hard to do what he wanted to do, not what his parents wanted for him.
