What a joy! I’ve never thought of becoming a fan of cat books, but Mewzings has touched the deepest place in my heart! Cats seem like quite ordinary animals, but there is something to them, some inexplicable magnetism, causing us to love them. There is something cozy, sweet, warm and friendly about cats, but at the same time, something wild, willful and uncontrollable. Cats are uniquely magical creatures. If you do not think so, then you’ve just never had a cat, you’ve never heard a soothing purr, and you’ve never seen your cat pawing its ear. After all, it’s pure magic. Very often we stop noticing magic when we see it every day. It simply becomes ordinary, like coffee in the morning. Thanks to this book of Tygo, this magic has returned into my life. This is the best “talking-cat” book I’ve ever come across!

After reading a couple of books from Tygo Lee I decided to give this one a try as well! Mewzings is a tribute to the admiration and love of furry, adorable cats! The book is written in a very clear style, filled with great love for animals and humor. The first person or rather “first-cat” narration from Freddy the Cat is very special. You will learn from Freddy's stories how your pet treats you really, what "loving" their owners actually means for cats, what they are afraid of, what upsets them, amuses them, and much, much more. I recommend this book not only to cat lovers, but to all who appreciate short stories with witty language and thought-provoking ideas.

Having read and thoroughly enjoyed over a dozen of Tygo's books, picking and devouring this one was a no-brainer and here's my quick review of Cool Cats. The character of Freddy the cat is super cute and adorable. I absolutely loved the chapter with Willy the worm where our 'brand new' Freddy starts freaking out when he first meets a worm. On seeing the slimy, wiggly creature, he jumps to conclusion that it's a spaghetti monster who's out to take revenge for eating members of his family. I found myself chuckling throughout and one chapter that really made me rethink things was 'Chaos Unleashed' where he rants about how simple changes in the lives of his caretakers can have drastic effect on the lives of our feline friends. Tygo's writing is simple yet super witty and is guaranteed to hold your attention. These tales teach us a whole lot and helps you see and feel things from a Cat's perspective and trust me, it feels amazing. The stories are literally mind blowing and over the course of these 18 fun filled tales, you see Freddy growing as a person (or should I say cat? haha). Treat yourself to these magnificent tales whenever you feel stressed out. Trust me, they work wonders.

Tygo Lee comes back with yet another enthralling collection of cat stories. This time the readers get to join Freddie the Cat in 18 chapters of feline fun. Firstly, I’d like to mention how the book is written. It’s a first-person narration by Freddy, which gives us the opportunity to experience his thoughts and inner monologues and oh my, they are absolutely great. The language used is anything but stale: vivid descriptions and comparisons mixed with colloquial speech give the book a great flow. The author also, in my opinion, managed to capture the thoughts of a cat perfectly. One moment that made me crack up was when Freddie didn’t know what a “Hampshire” was, and logically assumed it had something to do with hamsters. It reminds me of a child, knowing so little of the world around it, and making deductions based on existing knowledge, which often results in comical situations. That simple, untainted way, in which Freddie is written makes him the best character for me. The author also makes quite a few good points about the importance of things such as honesty and being considerate to others and a lot more. Though it’s sad that we need to be reminded of them, the silver lining is that there are people like Tygo who write these amazing books that time and again accentuate the values a lot of us seem to forget. Stories like “A Closetphobia” and “A Ghost Cat” hold meaning not only as narratives but as lessons on the little things that make our world a better place. So, if you’d like to read masterfully-crafted stories with lovable characters, a good plot and actual meaning, Cool Cat definitely should not be missed.
