The case of the Original Night Stalker aka East Area Rapist/Golden State Killer. Included Lyman Jones Smith's granddaughter Laurie talks about the effect the murders of Lyman Robert and Charlene Smith had on Lyman's father as well as the rest of the family that lived in Sacramento. What were the chances that the East Area Rapist would terrorize Sacramento for two plus years when Laurie was 19 - 21 and then move on to Ventura, CA murdering her grandfather's son and daughter in law in 1980? New family pictures and photo album plus new chapters about DNA, Cold Cases, DNA phenotyping as well as maps and geographic locations are included in this edition. Laurie grew up in Sacramento a mile away from her grandfather Lyman Jones Smith Senior spending as much time as possible with her grandparents until they passed away never knowing who killed Lyman's first born son Lyman Robert. Law Enforcement from every county EAR/ONS attacked have still never been able to find this man even though they have his DNA. Will the victims families ever know justice in these cases? 50 rapes and at least 10 murders have been connected in California. Update: The final chapter is now being played out. The arrest of the man allegedly responsible for ALL of the crimes listed in this book, and maybe more was arrested April 25, 2018. He was arraigned this afternoon April 27, 2018 in Sacramento County where the crimes of the East Area Rapist began. He is now under the power and control of the very department he sought to outsmart. Justice is now in the process of being served at last for the many victims of rape, for the victims families who lost loved ones at his hands. We shall see how this plays out in real time. EAR was formally charged with the murders of Katie and Brian Maggiore in Sacramento County today. Stay tuned for the final, final chapters to come.

Very detailed and fascinating account of the East Area Rapist and the Original Night Stalker cases. Probably the most in depth book I've ever read on either subject, and from a very unique perspective. I was expecting the author to focus too much on her relatives case, but she did not. She speculates as to where the perpetrator could live, but seems to have formed some wonderful relationships with law enforcement over the years while researching the cases and brings great knowledge to this book.
